Will You Put Your OzBargain Hoodies on? How Often?

While I wasn't aware of the competition, I won a OzBargain hoodies. Thanks @scotty :D

I see it as a Lifetime Achievement Award. :D
But I am not sure what I should do with it.
So if it was you, what would you do? Will you put it on?
Here are the 3 options I can think of.

  1. Yes, for everyday use
You want to tell everyone that you've saved an extra $2 from a Cashreward Amazon gift card deal.
But it may become worn out within a year

  2. Yes, but only on special occasions
You don't want to damage it. But you still want to show it to as many people as possible.
So you're going to wear it on your graduation day, or on your wedding.
    "Will you marry me?"
"Yes, but only if you love OzBargain as much as I do."
"Sure, I promise you I will visit OZB once every 15 mins." LOL

  3. No
It's a precious award. A status symbol. You will hang it on your bedroom wall, keep it clean and tidy.
Perhaps it may worth $30,000 in a Sotheby's auction one day.

  4. Others, please kindly leave a comment. :)

  • Who ended up getting the "Number 2" hoodie ?

    • Didn't Productreview have "JV has his name removed" hoodies?

🙆🏽‍♂️⬅ This is where I would put my OZB hoodie…. if I had one 😾

  • I modelled the hoodie and didn't even get to keep one so I'm going with option 3.

    • The model looks like Cristiano Ronaldo

      • I get asked that often

    15 min

Those r rookie numbers we gotta get that figure up son

  • @scotty

I got no chance of winning, is there a possibility to buy one? I would wear mine out in public. Though then I guess people would ask for my username maybe… 🤔

      • Dang I guess I’ll have to try harder to find a sick deal to post then 🥺

    • Scotty presumably owns the copyright on the logo design and if he's giving us permission to make our own in the comment linked below, so I could set up a drop shitting direct to garment website selling them at cost. I suppose it promotes the website if more people are wearing them in public then why would Scotty care.

I don't know if it's worth it though because these DTG services charge a lot, maybe more than most members would be willing to pay. I always wanted a heat press thing to go with my vinyl cutting machine, but those machines are expensive so I wouldn't be interested in making them myself. Already got enough machines I hardly ever use. I can just imagine it now, boxes full of blank hoodies piled up next to the heat press, sitting untouched for years…

      • I’d prob just get tshirt mill or similar to make mine - like to support local where I can

Scotty could make even more money selling OzBargain merch IMO but the fact that the merch is rare makes it that much more special.

        • We all want the hoodies, but when it comes down to it how many of us would actually pay for a quality one? Scotty's efforts probably better off thinking about bigger and better things that will actually pay real money.

          • @AustriaBargain: True, not sure what the actual demand would be like. I'd consider buying one myself.

Scotty's efforts probably better off thinking about bigger and better things that will actually pay real money.

You don't think merch is worthwhile? A lot of Youtubers go down the merch route because it makes decent money. 7-8 years ago some of the Youtubers I watch never sold merch, now basically all of them do.

            • @Ghost47: I think YouTube is a bit different. For small time YouTubers Merch is worth it because they aren't making much money so every dollar matters, every dono matters. For big time YouTubers they could potentially sell millions of items of clothing and make good money.

If Scotty were in front of the camera and loads of people were watching his videos every day then he could make real money through Merch. But most of us don't even know what he looks like.

I'm sure if he believed the OZB brand was popular enough to sell loads of Merch he'd already be doing it. But c'mon, it's OZB. It's past 5pm on a Friday and it says in the footer that there are 2,200 logged in users and 6,000 guests. I'm sure Scotty is making a healthy income from the site, probably more than we'll ever make ourselves, but the OZB brand itself isn't something hype beasts want, it's something OZB dorks like us want.

@AustriaBargain: Yeah, everyone would want one but I doubt many would actually pay RRP for one since we are on OzBargain :) The "unit price" for the base hoodie + printing + shipping from factory to me would be around $36 ex-GST. AusPost it to the winner would add another $10-$13 (depending on the size & location). That makes "cost price" to be a bit over $50 delivered with GST. So even if I am charging that as the RRP (i.e. $0 margin) — I doubt many OzBargainers would pay for it.

Also I certainly do not want to deal with the after-sale service either (people chasing up orders, wanting to change size, etc). I would be obligated to, if I am selling the merch.

So we'll continue to just give those merch away, but due to limited budget, there will be limited supply. However feel free to take the logo and make your own apparels out of it.

I won an ozbargain tshirt in one of the Easter hunts but I didn't want it so gave it to another user.

  • Right now haha it's cold.

  • I wasn't aware of the competition, I won an OzBargain hoodie (thanks @scotty), and I'm one of the few who voted 2. And I will wear it in every performance review, so my boss will know that every single salary increase counts
