GameSaver: a New Website for Finding Physical Console Games at The Best Prices

Hi all,

First post here for https://www.gamesaver.com.au/ - not really a deal, and not a retailer site, so thought a forum post would be best to start with! Website made by two long-time OzBargain users.

Basically a website that has the latest and best prices on many games. We're in beta as we refine some aspect, as you can expect there are many thousands of titles, so if you find any issues just contact us via the site and we'll crush any bugs!

So, we'd love to see the site used for sourcing deals for this amazing community - we have already seen numerous deals posted in recent weeks that we knew about hours earlier (or longer).

Save away!

Note for moderators: our site is not a store, so did not choose "associated with" (and our site is not listed in your database anyway).
Do let us know if there's anything to remedy for future posts.

That purple colour scheme is terrible. Man it's awful, I feel angry and sad just looking at it. You ought to rope a designer into coming up with a style guide for you.

Love this idea and the website! Definitely something I can see myself using in the future, I love a good gaming deal. I don’t agree about the purple as much, love the purple top header, but not a fan of the purple titles of the games. Hopefully this takes off.

    I think the main view needs to be different;

Perhaps the picture of the game being the hero/eye drawing mechanism with price, discount and store being equal proportion on the other side.
-allow you to hover over for a more detailed view - brief description, rating etc.

Trolley button is wasted real estate - make the whole card a hyperlink.
Allow a quick selection for platform (let me only toggle switch/pc etc) on the main view.
Current colour scheme makes everything look the same, deters you from interacting - maybe its the hardness of the pink on dark grey and the small pictures.

    I like the idea though.

Maybe you can add a notify feature like camelcamelcamel/steam wish list.
That would be a great value add if you drive the traffic to your site for the click through and drives more retention rather than 1 time visitors.

  • Thanks for feedback so far everyone! We will be collating comments, comparing to analytics and adding to the roadmap as we go!

Really appreciated. We do disagree on the purple 🤣 but if readability is an issue we will absolutely take that into account.

Again, really hoping OzBargain users come to our site to find deals to share. Keep the comments coming!!

  • Cool idea man were did you get that from lol.

  • Love it!! Very easy to read and all the right info at a glance! … although I agree with the others about the colour scheme, not digging that particular shade of purple.

Only suggestion from me would be to put the RRP or PS/MS digital store prices front and center so you can have an idea just how much cheaper the top hit is.

Also I really like from https://gg.deals/ how they have a Historical Low section, as well as sections like Highest Rated, Deepest Discounts or weekly Top 10.

    Great work!

    • Thank you!! RRP is an interesting one — it could be the deciding factor for someone choosing between physical or digital.

Some of those are on our road map, and 100% we absolutely want Historical Lows and it's being actively worked on.
We'll put another tally against the purple on the spreadsheet, ha!

  • Game titles changed to white, "more" buttons shifted, optimised some assets for faster loading (optimisations ongoing), platform icons optimised.
    Some other minor design tweaks.

Still looking at the cart feedback further, so don't think we haven't listened on that one just some mobile ramifications. Additional features on the way!

    🙏

  • Added game screenshots and videos into beta today - they will appear below the cover art, collapsed by default.

  • You should strongly note that Gorilla Gaming and Mighty Ape are NZ companies and dont charge GST.. reason why they are always the cheapest.

  • Bookmarked!

    Not quite homepage worthy…yet!
