We're writing to inform you that your order has been cancelled by Amazon UK. We' re sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. You will be refunded within 3-5 business days.

When something is too good to be true, it probably is.

  • +11

Order got cancelled right away, asked a rep about it who claimed it was due to a ‘voltage issue with UK seller’ who then put me through to another rep, then finally a 3rd who randomly gave me a $50 promotional credit. Wasn’t expecting that at all but won’t say no to it!

    • How did you get to the rep.

      • +1

How did you get to the rep.

Went through the chat options for ‘something else’ I think it was as the order doesn’t show in my account. Just gave them the order number from the cancel email.

    • +8

      Muzeeb works at Amazon now?

    • Wow so you used up 3 reps time over a pricing error and they paid YOU for it. Capitalism manifesto!

      • +4

Wow so you used up 3 reps time over a pricing error

It wasn’t a pricing error, they simply ran out of stock.

I didn’t ask to be transferred, each rep just did it on their own.
The first claimed it was cancelled due to a difference in voltage with using an overseas seller.
The second who said it was out of stock and I mentioned the same issue with Amazon UK with the MSI 4070 deal which they then said they’d transfer me as the saw that was cancelled as well.
The final rep read it all back and without prompting offered the $50 credit.

In total I ‘used up’ about 15 mins of time.

  • even cheaper than my $119.99 2TB 980 Pro lol though from China

Edit: looks like all got cancelled

    • +1

      Not mine

      • scored!

        • This one is 990 Pro by the way.

    • Only the unlucky one's got cancelled

    • +1

      I got $30 promotional credit. :-)

      • +2

        Pics or it didn't happen.

        • -1

I'm not sure how to pull up my chat history. I actually spoke to another rep and managed to get $20 more, so $50 total. I'm happy with that but would have preferred the ssd

    • -6

I already recieved $150 total promo credits on my account, plus a few refunds allowing me to keep items (totalling $130). So couldnt push them more than $10.

      • @easternculture for this item or overall?

        • Overall over 5 orders lol

          Its a new account

One item had wrong title / different description
Another item had wrong product details

          • @easternculture: I don't think there's a limit. It depends on the rep (and maybe approving manager) who just wants to give however much they give. Like they gave me $10 for this, but one time they gave me $20 for Carmen's nut bars. It's just luck on who you land on I'd say. They defs give much less now compared to before.

            • -1

@I Smell Pennies: Eventually they stop offering when your account is flagged, hence i hop amazon accounts. This is my 6th.

              • @easternculture: Damn that sucks. I gotta be careful then and only do it on high valued items

                • +2

@I Smell Pennies: Yep. Or just hop accounts

Ive probably recieved over 2k in credits and refunds (keeping items with wrong titles or descriptions) from all my accounts.

      • Damn, curious to see if someone can score higher than $30 in one go.

  • +3

    Please don't neg me here..

I had a look at the comments and had an attempt to see if a rep would give me any promotional credit (didn't care about amount cause it's better then nothing).

I spoke to a rep and had a very very werid conversation with them - they told me to reorder the SSD right now at a higher price and when I receive it, contact customer support for a refund for a price difference.

(Name covered for a reason) https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/425373/105276/amazonch…

Has anyone else had this experience before? This is the first ever time experiencing a rep like this and usually I complain about if something is wrong with my order and not inquiring about an cancelled order.

    • +2

Done this for another item from Amazon uk that was cancelled. Was told to Pay 800 for a subwoofer then contacted them and refunded 160 when it arrived. They may be confused though so glad I asked for a name and email from the person who approved it initially.

    • +2

Got the same. Asked for them to send me an email. Not sure what would happen.
Guess I need to decide if I can be bothered to return it and get a refund if I don't get the credit.

    • +1

It happened before in another SSD deal months ago (based on OZB comments). However, the situation is a bit different though. With that deal, it was a pricing error which got corrected so it was possible for some people to still buy from the same seller (it was either Amazon UK or Amazon USA). Sorry, I cannot quite remember which SSD deal.

However, the problem is that it appears Amazon UK runs out of stock so it is not letting people to buy it (could be it is a special so Amazon UK is not accepting back order).

If you really want to go down that path, make sure you have everything in writing and keep a copy of it. If you prefer promotional credit, let the CSR know that Amazon UK has run out of stock and not accepting payment (and is Amazon actually willing to let you buy from a 3rd party seller and STILL refund you the difference later)?

      • So I just quickly contacted a CSR again about this and they looked at previous CSR message (I attached on here) and they promised that the price difference will be applied. Just gotta contact them on Monday when the SSD comes (assuming it's fine to buy it from AZ eShop as Amazon is the shipper)

I asked for a chat transcript and they don't do them apparently (just screenshot on the fly)
Not sure how much exactly price difference they would give (doubt they'll do the entire $136.58 but I'll be shocked if they do, will be happy if it was even $100 - will reply Monday when what my results are)

Thank you for letting me know

        • +2

done that many times, ensure you request them to put it down under your account so you dont have repeat the story again when receiving goods, the difference is refunded to account credit and for buying anything sold by Amazon AU only.

          • @wxwsf: Thank you for letting me know.

I just spoke to a rep as my parcel came, one rep asked me what the price difference was so I gave the difference in the price to them. They said they couldn't authorise it and kept erroring so they transferred me to someone else that could do it and I was refunded in gift card balance.

Thank you all above for letting me know, it's seriously appreciated

  • Contacted customer service who said my order can be shipped when more stock is available. Not sure I believe them.

    • +1

seems like bs because stock is still available to order

  • needed one but didn't see this in time :(

  • They gave me only $10 which is better than nothing. They wouldn't budge, even with 1500+ orders under my belt.

  • So many people getting credit and here's me with a basic SSD order.

    Which is the real deal?

    • +2

If you got this ssd, then thats the real deal

    • +1

For people managed to get $50 credit (and some people used "multiple" accounts), then that's a better deal.

990 Pro 1TB is generally an overkill for most of us. It is really a FOMO as the cheapest 2TB NVMe (though it is a DRAMless PCIe gen 3 one) is now $109 here (so could be even cheaper for people who have friends in China).

      • +1

You're right but I could just sell the SSD for $50 cash profit. Win for everyone.

  • I contacted support and got told my order was cancelled as Amazon UK had removed the global shipping option for that item and that is the reason. They then proceeded to say that the item is back in stock and I can order it again and before I had a chance to reply they ended the chat. No offer of promo credit or anything.

  • Price is now 192

    • +1

Different seller. This deal was a special deal from Amazon UK. However, originally Amazon UK intended only offer the deal to UK customers. It then somehow accepted international orders. Unfortunately, some people who placed the orders early got their orders cancelled (because Amazon UK initially did not want to share the love to Aussie customers).

      • So it wasn't the price error?

        • +2

Well, some people have their orders still active and Amazon already charged the cards. Out of those, some people even reported their orders already moved to "preparing for shipment" stage. Amazon CSRs so far have indicated the deal was legit.

However, as mentioned above, it was weird that people who got in really early had their orders cancelled. Then, Amazon UK did a backflip and started accepting orders from AU customers.

  • +1

Been told by all customer service agents that deal was a a price error.

Those who got compensation credit probably luckiest.

I however only managed to score amazon to do a price difference of SSD (THAT TOO WITH A CATCH OF Refund only to AMAZON GIFT CARD BALANCE ONLY THAT TOO ONLY WHEN THE ITEM GETS DELIVERED).
Not really sure how it would play out. Would be left with $137 ish in Gift card balance for no reason Stuck on that amazon account,
Plus had to scrabble 2% discounted gift card to amount of $190 from SB too.

Hopefully some use will come for the remaining $136 gift card balance

    Edit: neggars seriously ??

    • +1

Those who are the luckiest are the one's who got their orders through and weren't cancelled, I got my shipping confirmation and it's been dispatched.
Even if they claim price error, they've committed to at least some of the orders, the better guess would be they were inundated especially at that price.

  • +4

    Mine has been dispatched

    • Me too, I received a tracking number

    • +1

      Here too

    • +1

      Same here.

  • +3

    2 ssd's shipped.

  • Today is my lucky day.

  • +4

    Shipped as well!

"We thought you'd like to know that Amazon UK dispatched your item(s).

Your order is on the way, and can no longer be changed. If you need to return an item or manage other orders, please visit Your Orders on Amazon.com.au"

  • +1

    3 ssd's shipped

  • +1

    Damn missed it

  • Mine says dispatched.

  • +2

    Weird.
One account the order went through.
My other account cancelled straight away, but received $50 credit after being bounced around a couple of Amazon reps. So basically $5 drive. Not bad.

  • +1

Just joining the confirmation of order shipped.

  • Order confirmed and my 2x SSD's are been dispatched as we speak.
Seems like a bit of FOMO going around on this one especially the one's claiming everybody's orders got cancelled, not the case at all.
Just got to be in the right place at the right time sometimes.

    • +2

      Mine was despatched.

I don't think this was a case of right place right time. Some orders were shipped. Some were cancelled. Some people had their first order cancelled and subsequent order shipped.

There was a bit of pot luck in this deal.

      • Case in point. I ordered maybe 15 minutes after the OP in the off chance I didn't miss out and got lucky, I still managed to snag a couple. Right place, right time.

  • +2

Mine got dispatched as well, guess it’s my lucky day?

    • +1

      Yep :)
Mine was cancelled (it said three in stock), I tried a second time and it kept getting moved from the cart to saved for later.

  • Missed this deal.. k-drama was a distraction

  • Mine says dispatched.
Do I need to be concerned it is clone or fake drive?

    • +1

      Hope not..
      Its coming from amazon uk..
So should be legit.. and if not, there wont be any issues with a refund so i guess no loss.

  • Got mine confirmed, thanks OP

  • Missed the deal…sleep was the distraction.

Also does anyone have recommendations on white-colour themed DDR5 RGB RAM?

    • +2

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/787830

Sorry didn’t see you wanted white RAM.

      • Does CL matter anymore? I remember the Ozbargain threads in the past for DDR4 saying lower was better.

        • +1

I’m no expert on it, but from what I understand it’s a small difference for certain applications and things like gaming . Day to day, probably won’t notice much, overall.

  • Got one shipped thanks OP

My second was cancelled ordered a minute later after umming and aaahing since I also got the $131 2xssd waiting to ship and I cbf returning but I might refund prices seem to be dropping

    • Change of mind return for Amazon US, UK, JP items incurs a return shipping label charge from Amazon. Even if you agreed to it, the default instruction from Amazon CSRs is not the most effective way (they most likely tell you to drop off the item at a DHL drop off location).

  • +1

    17 shipped

    • +1

      24 Drives shipped

    • +1

How can you tell how many shipped?

  • Waiting for the next deal now.

    • You will be waiting for a while

    • Shouldn't be long. Based on past history, new and much better SSD deals appear soon after I purchased an SSD and generally 20%+ cheaper.

This SSD is a FOMO purchase as $/GB is not the best for me, it is only the 2nd best.

      • whats 1st best ?

        • +5

PNY CS1031 2TB: $109 Warning though, there is heavy component lottery on that SSD and inferior grade Micron NANDs is one of the batches (those are Micron NAND chips with only have 95% usable cells). You cannot tell which batch you get and if you ended up getting inferior NAND batch… then it is not a good deal.

Technically, this deal is the 3rd best $/Gb for me as Centrecom did sell WD Green 240 for $10. That's a SATA SSD though.

However, I suggest people wait a bit as I can see some all time low on other SSDs from Amazon (UK, JP). Don't forget, after I buy an SSD, SSD prices drop even further.

          • @netsurfer:

            What's the best $3/GB NVMe?

  • +1

Have a chat to Customer Service via online chat.

Ordered one locally and it will be here tomorrow. Yay!!!!!!

"Well that order was cancelled due to that Amazon UK is now out of this stock however I would advise reordering the item since it's available by another seller and as soon as the new order gets delivered we'll be refunding you the price difference."

    • Ditto, got 2

    • Sweet, I'll try my luck with them now.

Any specifics you need to say to the CS agent?

Edit: Tried, didn't want to budge. Guess I'll just wait for the next deal to pop around.

      • +1

All I said was why my order got cancelled and they offered the above

  • Can anyone recommend a good ssd adapter for mid 2015 15inch MacBook Pro ?

  • Managed to snag one OP. Amazon already dispatched it. Will be making it as my main drive for a fresh install of win11 pro. I know I didn’t need it but it was a good beast of a drive so why not haha true ozb spirit buy now think later.

  • +1

Am quite jealous here for missing this deal. I got a 2TB one coming bought on Prime Day and it’s late. See what they could do to turn it into a sweet deal.

  • I'm not a regular shopper on Amazon.

Every time I search for a Samsung SSD it's located overseas?

I know Amazon will do the warranty for the first two years (According to a chat room question I asked them yesterday), but how can you get a Samsung SSD on Amazon with local 5 year warranty?

Should I just throw caution to the wind and buy a new SSD every two years and use the old ones for a backup?

    • +1

but how can you get a Samsung SSD on Amazon with local 5 year warranty?

You pick the SSD that is sold by Amazon AU or other Australian retailers like Harris Technology, KS Computer or Scorptec Computers.
An example of a listing sold by Amazon AU is this

With the ones that are Australian stock with local warranty though, be prepared to pay up to 40% more than imported stock.

Re. Backup: No matter what brand the hard drive is or where it’s bought backing up your data is a must. Everyone should have at least two copies of their important files backed up.

      • backup on external storage if you can :)

  • anyone received this?

    • Not yet. Posted with tracking, arriving 3rd August.
