This compact-yet-powerful cruiser served as the flagship of the Republic of China Navy during the 1930s. In World of Warships, Ning Hai stands out for her formidable long-range, rapid-firing guns and strong torpedo weaponry. She is also characterized by her good stealth capabilities and agility, but she has drawbacks in the form of low speed and limited hit points.

This package includes:

  • Pan-Asian Tier III cruiser Ning Hai
  • Commander with 3 skill points
  • Port slot

If you already have this ship in your Port, you will receive 1500 doubloons as compensation.

The contents of this DLC can only be unlocked by game accounts created through Steam.

Except it was built by a Japanese shipyard. Fail comment.

  • Anyone a veteran player of this game that can tell us about it? Good/bad?

definitely worth a look. You can play for free or spend lots, it's up to you. If unsure, there plenty of streamers on twitch that you can watch to see if its something you might enjoy.

More hours than I care to share on it, started 2 years ago. Love it for the social aspect, I have a great Aussie clan I'm part of. Progress is up to you; F2P is definitely feasible, but the more advanced game modes definitely benefit from the paid, premium ships which take a loooooooong time to earn in game if you aren't paying cash and if you're just starting now and the rest of your clan is doing it, you're going to feel left out until you get something you can compete with. It's also become markedly more predatory with the in-game purchase stuff over the last 2 years since I started, some of the regular offerings are straight up whale traps now.

Best advice I can give you is sign up, give it a try for a week or two and you'll get a feel for whether you like it or not. If you do, the best actual purchase you can make is premium time (cuts the grind aspect by about ~40% or so) and anything on top of that can be a bonus.

Hit me up on DM if you do sign up and want some in game advice or through Discord.

You can definitely have a good time for free, starting out you'll probably be fine. I don't play much any more as I think the meta has gone massively down hill, but that's probably just because I remember "the good old days". Plenty of gameplay on youtube, the graphics are great and you can sink unlimited hours grinding out each line.

    • Game used to be great, it's been going slowly downhill for the past few years. Typical stuff, just greedy/bad changes against what the community wants. Playerbase has plummeted in the last year or so, Wargaming are getting desperate and have been handing out promos like candy.

That said, you can definitely still have some fun with it.

Also re the deal FYA a T3 is basically useless, pretty much impossible to get matches at that tier except for the first 5-10hrs of gameplay.

    • Its fun, the game can get a bit grindy when you are getting near the top tiers of ships (it goes from tier I-X).
The premium subscription does speed up your advancement, every now and then there is a raft of sponsorships of youtube/twitch channels which give free premium for new accounts.
If you haven't played before and therefore don't have an account, I'd wait to get into it when the free premium sponsorships come around. A Tier-III premium cruiser is basically a nothing. The combat missions are almost all Tier V or above, and random play (the core of the game) in tier I-IV is often populated by bots; that's fine when you're starting but you wouldn't go back to playing a Tier III premium after being in Tier V+.

Premium ships are typically based on historical one-offs or particularly notable ships. They normally aren't overpowered overall, but they almost always suffer from 're-balancing' upon release. Cynical people say its because Wargaming uses them as a cash grab, release an overpowered ship to bring in buyers then balance it later (it is a free to play title after all). Personally, I think its just too difficult to balance some of these ships in a game thats got hundreds to thousands of permutations and a playerbase that loves to follow the meta.

The additional thing is that each ship has a commander. Having a premium ship acts like a training ship for other commanders. The commander assigned to the ship will earn XP faster, which means they level quicker and are more useful on non-premium vessels.

  • Weird they would name the game something 5 letters different to one of the most famous computer games

Half the words in the dictionary are 5 letters different from something else lol

It's a follow on to "World of Tanks" so the first part makes sense in that context.

So they could have gone "…Ships" for consistency… but then people would expect cargo ships, cruise ships and a variety of other ships. So the name pretty much had to be what it is.

      • there are cargo ships in the game…

        • you can't play as a cargo shop though smarty pants
