Buying cheap outdoor clothing that needs to be replaced frequently is a false economy. Look up Patagonia's Iron Glad Guarantee. My jackets that are years old have been repaired multiple times by them for free.
Gone on multiday ultralight thru hikes with a Capilene cool shirt, with no odour.
Damage due to wear and tear will be repaired at a reasonable charge.
What kind of damage were you getting?
I have never been charged.
My micro puff jackets have had ember holes from camp fires, I have had rips from getting caught on wild blueberry bushes with thorns. Slipped while river crossing and got rips from branches and sharp rocks etc.
I've heard stories of Patagonia replacing clothing if they were in an unrepairable state. Where you don't want to wait for them to repair it professionally, you can call them up or walk into any of their store and they will give you Tenacious tape for free.

Please look at prices at other stores before commenting. Next best I can find is $89.
And I have this t shirt and absolutely love the quality. Defenitely worth for this price for me at least.
