Amazon Sale - Crucial SDD 2TB, Two Bad Drives in a Row

Hey everyone.

I know in the prime sales and recently there was a crucial 2TB ssd on sale, I bought one. When it arrived the SSD box was already opened. This made me suss straight away. I popped in the computer to find the disk was already formatted and it had some dudes games library on it. So i got on the chat with amazon who ordered me a replacement. Drives should be new. This one has 720 power on with 6464 hours on it.

Fast forward 3 days my drive arrives. Open package, once again the seal is broken on the box. Low and behold plug it in and the drive is dead. You go to disk management the disk says "Unknown not initialized". So I initialise the disk. It just says device does not exist. So it's toast. I tried it in another PC and also on other cables. So this is two in a row. I will give it one more chance but amazon has dropped the ball this time.

So check your drives when you get them. I am probably just unlucky.

  • Just bad luck unfortunately (and idiots ripping off the system by returning used stuff - I experienced it with hue light bulbs), buy a lottery ticket to balance it out :)

They are sending me a 3rd drive with $25 credit for hassle and also said opening investigation on the warehouse. See what happens i suppose, if it fails again i will get a refund and spend the extra $20 getting it from a local shop.

I've bought two HDDs from Amazon so far, both were used when advertised as new. Never again with Amazon.

      • Starting to look this way.

Good warning - I bought a drive some months ago that I haven't had time to test yet, better do it before too long

I steer clear of crucial and corsair nvme/ssds these days, I've had nothing but problems with them.

I think you are unlucky. I have bought a couple of Samsung 980 Pros and a couple of 990 Pros recently. All unopened and no probs.

  • Being an Ozbargainer did you copy the games for free before returning the drive?

Most of the games we crappy but i did look for any cool stuff on the drive. I sent it back with the data on the drive so the next person can use it.
