Looking for a Pressure Washer

Looking for a Karcher / Gerni or similar pressure washer for a few things.

  1. Pressure washing concrete, it is to the extent of being mossy and generally dirty.

  2. Pressure washing my deck, it's currently Unsealed timber that I ideally want to save and put down a deck stain.

  3. Removing paint from weatherboard - this isn't a priority as a sander will work.

  4. Cleaning car(s) - however hesitant as it can make clearcoat start to peel / make peeling worse.

Obviously the better the price the better, would go in used but good condition but preferably new.

The type you buy in Bunnings etc are hard pressed to lift the skin from a rice pudding.

    • Haha, that's fair!

I had a chuckle at it too as the electric pressure cleaners are much less powerful than petrol/diesel. However, please don't take safety with these things lightly, they might not lift skin from a rice pudding but they can definitely lift skin off a human.

There are electric pressure washers that are 3,000psi @ 15 litres per minute.

The Bunnings type don't lift skin from a human.

          • @CurlCurl: Maybe you would like this bidet which uses the cheapest pressure cleaner at Bunnings. They do sell petrol pressure cleaners too.

Oh dear donga100. It's not me that needs the bidet as I'm not full of it. I know Bunnings sell petrol Pressure washers as do Supercheap along with other retailers. Here are the specs.

              Powerful 7.0HP petrol engine
              3200 PSI high pressure
              10 LPM

And here are the specs for a real 3,000PSI washer.

              11HP Honda.
              3000psi
              15LPM.

The Honda powered 3,000PSI has 45% more power than the 3,200PSI from Bunnings.

    • Is that you, Boris Johnson?

I've built pressure washers, sold pressure washers and get p****d off with the miss information sprouted here and elsewhere by armchair experts.

Just get the best karcher at the top of your budget. It's not all about psi ratings but more litres per minute. The more litres per minute the better the unit will be for your purpose.

With car clear coat just just stand back and only get as close as required to remove the soap.

It's a combination of pressure and litres per minute and depends on the KW of the motor and jet size. Even the inside hose diameter comes into play.

No need to stand back with the dribble type Karcher, Ryobi, Sthil etc.

    • But it's good to look after your deck.

Hahaha, I knew someone here would make a joke.

  • Thinking of a Karcher K3 which does 1950psi and 6.3L/Min - seems like it'd be suitable?

I highly recommend the entry level Stihl pressure washers for duties around the house. Great quality machine for a good price.

    • Ahh, I might do that. I know someone who runs a Stihl Shop so maybe I'll see if they can get me a Stihl.

      • They often run package deals and include things like deck washer attachments. With attachments it can be cheaper than the Bunnings equivalent

    • Agree, the Stihl range RE110/120/130 is perfect for maintaining hard surfaces around the house and the exterior of the house itself. We still get a professional, petrol, pressurewash every 2 years because we have a 70m long driveway and I can't be arsed doing that.

    • wow. the RE 130 doesn't get very good reviews on product review - https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/stihl-re-130-plus making me think twice :/

      • Nothing gets good reviews on there. Try finding a microwave or toaster with good reviews. I’ve got one and it’s great.
