Finding a Stick Vacuum That’s Better than a Dyson?

Hello everybody.

My wife is getting frustrated out Dyson v11 isn’t sucking things as much as it use to. It’ll just push the bits around or if you go over it, it’s still there.

Can anybody give me a vacuum that’s equivalent or better than Dyson that you swear by?

Thanks so much

I would check the vacuum and make sure there’s nothing stuck in the wond or the vacuum assembly.

and clean the filters. After cleaning the filters on my stick vacuum (Eufy HomeVac S11 Lite) it upped it's suck.

The new Dyson v15 is out now, looks amazing. I have a Dyson V10 absolute + and will most likely upgrade to this latest Dyson. I have multiple animals and the dyson has out done all other vacuums I’ve tried, so I recommend sticking to dyson tbh.

My mum complained about a similar thingon her Dyson V6.

I found a YouTube guide to 'deep clean' that model, basically pulled the whole thing apart, cleaned it and reassembled and it came back to life.

The biggest problem seems to be hair getting wrapped around the motorhead so it doesn't flick the debris up towards the suction channel.

I'd also replace the air filter if it's more than a year old.

It surprises me the amount of people that don't know they have to clean the thing that cleans things for them.

Just clean it. Suction doesn't reduced over time, even if it's a battary, it just work then go dead when battery dies.

Miele Triflex HX2. I have a couple of HX1s and just a little more suction is all they need. Illuminated head (like Dyson Gen5detect™ Absolute) is great.

Did you tell her that it's not just the vacuum cleaner? 😆

    • Agree on the above, ex-dyson user, picked up a HX2 from JB recently for $799, and it out performs the Dyson in everyway.

A vacuum is like a wife, suction decreases over time.
Upgrade to a newer model is the only way to improve suction.

Clean the filter - I’ve fixed two “broken” Dyson V7s by just washing the filter. Might need to put it in a bucket of warm water if it’s not been cleaned in a while.

It’ll just push the bits around or if you go over it, it’s still there.

Then clean it…. Check all the pipes have no blockages, pull the head apart and clean that too, as it can block up.

Clean the filters and wash the ones that are washable.

    You'll find it'll work 100 times better.

  • I remember reading this about a week or two ago.

Never changed from a Dyson, so I'm not sure if Ryobi is pumping its weight behind their brand to bring down Dyson, but it's worth a look. You can buy it I guess and always take it back for a refund.

Personally if it was me I would buy a Dyson again, and I have pulled my vacuums completely apart and used compressed air and even washed them with a hose. Also you can find parts on ebay to replace, but this is going back 10 years ago.

You gotta clean the "goo" out after you "use" it.

  • Get it serviced if you can't do it yourself.
The loss of suction happens with every brand eventually.
Changing the brand won't fix the issue.

    • unless you change to a miele c3 dog and cat bagged vac.

no cleaning and sucks golf balls through garden hoses.

  • Every time I think our Dyson isn’t working properly I soon remember that it hasn’t been cleaned for a while. Good as new afterwards.

Gotta pull it apart and get the hairs lint and other detritus out of it. Mostly it’s near completely blocked in the head by a big ball of fluff.

  • Bought my Mrs the Shark about 5 years ago, they have spare parts available to order on their website which is helpful. Current model is on special for $300 delivered (I bought the previous model). Even had the motor fail just before the warranty expired & they experss posted a replacement.
