Best & Cost Effective Laptop Backup Solution

After the Best & Cost Effective Laptop Backup Solution.

TL;DR - Boss' laptop died and has lost all of his stuff stored on his desktop, no backup solution in place. Looking for the best solution to backup files (Desktop, Downloads) etc. It isn't very tech-savvy and needs to be easy and automated. Windows 11 Machine.

The business has AWS and Wasabi S3, so could backup to there or use Software's own solution.

Never had such a problem as I used Sync.com for all my files and all other staff operate a NAS.

    OneDrive?

    • I was gonna say the same thing. Save all files to OneDrive folder and it'll automatically back up to the cloud. Do the same with his phone too.

But OP wants to back up random files in their user home directory (Desktop, Downloads, etc)

        • OneDrive does this.

    • Just go with the Microsoft office 365 suite, including Teams, OneDrive etc. I guess everyone uses it because it's one payment and it's reliable and it just works

  • There is no thing like laptop died. Is it HDD gone kaput or motherboard.
If it is latter, you can pull out the HDD and still be able to access it.
GDrive also has desktop app https://www.google.com/intl/en_au/drive/download/

  • Can I have a TLDR for the TLDR?

  • Thanks all. Whilst OnceDrive/MS365 is a possible option, I feel like this user is at risk of not using it properly. I ended up going with Drive which has reasonable reviews and is good for pricing along with other handy features. See how that goes for 12 months.
