Run Flat Puncture Repair - My Observation

I am not sure it’s me or others have found this as well.

2 years ago I used to pay 39 dollars to repair flat run flat tyre. I just paid 65 dollars for it. Is it just inflation or I have been ripped off?

Well, tyre needed inflating, so must be inflation

      That makes sense. Cheers

Prices vary in my area. It pays to ring around.

Same with wheel alignments. Anywhere from $75 - $180.

Some businesses just rely on others to pay the lazy man tax.

Also, I've never had a car with run flats but I was under the impression they were toast after a run flat event. TIL

    • Yeah was in rush in the evening and had to get it done. so perhaps paid lazy tax.

Same place: Inflation. Different place: they just charge more.

(It’s probably the same as a regular tyre)

    • It’s a different place in Sydney. The regular tyre was advertised as 55 which also sounds high

    Same place?
    Same company even?
    Did you get some quotes?

How much did everything else you pay for go up?

    • I couldn’t take multiple quotes and went to the nearby area. The guys were really good and very detailed and based on this thread I am feeling this is the new normal now

Inflation is the increase in prices over time. Price has gone up over a period of time, so yes inflation.
Going from $39 to $65 is well above CPI inflation, but is likely similar to auto price inflation, which has been crazy high.

  • Plugs aint plugs anymore. You may have got a tyre off, two-sided repair with leak check? Or you can get a "she be right" bloke with a set of pliers, a file and a plug pusher. They both work most of the time, but there is a quality difference.
