Samsung 77" S95C OLED 4K Smart TV Vs LG G3 77 Inch OLED Evo TV

I am looking for a 77" OLED tv. These twos seem to be top of the range (wall mounted) atm. I will mainly watch movies, tv shows (streaming services) and sports. Currently, I can get Samsung one at around $5,500. On the other hand, LG G3 is out of stock at most retailers or full price. The best I can get is $6,715 at TGG (may be $500 storecash with it). I don't want to pay more than $5,500/$5,600 for these.

Has anyone recently purchased either of these? What is your experience or opinion?

I current own a LG C9. I have been happy with it since I bought it. Previously, I owned a Samsung LED.

Thank you.

  • I’d recommend getting an 83” version of last year’s models, if your space can accommodate it.

    • 83" would be too big for my space!

Reviews suggest both are pretty on pair picture quality wise (both had their pros and cons, but both incredible either way).
I too am looking at picking up a 77" of either later in the year - am hoping once there's more G3 stock a bidding war will kick off between the two as they compete. The S95C has already had some pretty killer prices going for the 77" in the past month or so, so I'm sure they'll be back.

Both great TVs so you can't go wrong, lack of Dolby Vision on the Samsung of course, but in testing, given how vibrant the screen makes regular HDR, it isn't a factor as you can't tell the difference.

G3 still has the edge if you want to do a lot of gaming on it, but again not a big enough difference to push one way or the other. Price is the key factor :)

      I have offers of LG G3 65 inch $3,092 and Samsung S95C 77 inch $4,809. I am wondering if I should wait for LG G3 77"

      • Can you advise where you are getting such offers from? Also in the market for a 77"

        • If you know someone at Good Guys or JB you could probably get that $4.8k deal for the S95C easily enough - I suspect you'll see sale prices hit that in the coming months regularly, especially when the Sony A95L releases.

heya by this do you mean via their staff discount?

@andresampras: Yep I did sorry, should have made that clearer. That's the price they were going down to in sales, and speaking to someone from TGG last month, that's about what he could do it for he mentioned. Given prices should just continue to fall once the A95L is out shortly, I would expect to see regular sales prices just under $5k in the coming months for the G3 and S95C (if I had to take a guess!).

      • How the hell did you get a deal for G3 65 inch $3092?

  • LG better OS, better remote and navigation and USB plays anything that you can throw at it.

    • I am used to with LG OS, but I also use google tv exclusively.

  • LG. Easy

  • LG 77” CS at Bing Lee for $3995. $40 delivery to Vic.

Thinking of picking one up myself but reckon I can get away with 65.
