Statutory Warranty on a Cheapo Gizmo

I have a godox flash trigger. It's about 1.5 years old. Has been crap since I bought it, but has finally got so crap it's unusable. Am I right in thinking that the statutory warranties in Australia don't actually specify 2 years? That they sort of say that something should last as long as is reasonable? Or should I persue a remedy?

I'm annoyed that it was so crap, and that I didn't send it back sooner, otherwise I'd bin it and chalk it up to experience

Godox triggers are cheap. No way you'll be getting warranty on it.

There is no 2 year warranty.
That was a particular set of circumstances around mobile phones.
Your consumer right is for a reasonable degree of quality and performance.
So a high price item marketed as long lasting should be expected to work for years, while a cheap and cheerful product sold for the cheapest price, less so.
If you think the product hasn't lasted a reasonable time for the price, take it up with your retailer.
    They may replace it.

  • where did you buy it from?
good luck getting a seller overseas in honouring statutory warranty.

fwiw ive had nothing but great experience with godox triggers, though i am running godox xpros

but now you can bin it, and then chalk up the fact you "didn't send it back sooner, posted on ozb about it, realised it wont be covered under warranty" to experience. Its like a second order chalk experience :)

That is correct on both counts.

BUT the consumer rights also factors in the PRICE, so how much was your item? The fact you said it was cheap, would mean you have no consumer rights here at a guess.

Basically the idea is that a $8000 TV should last way longer than a $400 TV. Even if they both come with a 2 year warranty.
