I bought two of these for work, and they work well - recommended :)

  • Being a clearance the batteries may be no good.

    • the expired Eaton from previous deal last a fair while when power is cut.

    • agree with u

  • op, how do you know this is not compatible with your syno? i have syno too ds1511+

      • thanks~ yeah the new syno models are good with usb 3 etc but they are expensive. i got my 1511+ just around 500$, secondhand

    • Would be the software isnt supported to shut down the syno. Other than that it will still keep giving power to it if power failure or power spikes

      • yeah but if the power fails for an hour (or longer then the battery will run) then it's just gonna drop your NAS on its arse unless your able to shut it down manually, which is unlikely if your not home and awake when it happens.

        • if you have power cuts that long then maybe you need a bigger UPS.

        • I have a DS11+II at home, twice this winter we have lost power during the night due to storm damage, and other times [eg washing machine died and shorted out the house, kids next door thought they'd be funny and flick the fuses - IP cam to my NAS caught them].
I need something that will tell my NAS to shut down and power it long enough to do so, so it doesn't risk corruption and doesn't take 15min or more to rebuild / check the discs when it comes online.

I'm not buying a UPS system to run it off of for 12 hours, but my data is worth some effort to protect.

  • Anyone know how long this would be able to power one computer idling on the event of a power outage?

I own two of these and I would say "up to 10 minutes". But depends on the actual power drawn. I guestimate my setup to use ~150 watts at idle (pc, monitor, 2.1 stereo).

Just a caveat to my comment there about using it to keep a router up - I recall subsequently reading one comment claiming it shuts itself off after a set time (not sure if it was 30 mins or an hour) regardless of battery capacity.

      • if your pc is using usb control software

    • It saved my PC & router from an outage last night… I'm running an overclocked Intel E6750 + GTX 560 Ti and a 24" monitor plugged in, would last about 10 min.

    • Thanks guys, Helped alot :)

  • Sold out in most Brissy stores by the look

  • FANX UPLOADER!!! - Just picked up mine from Logan and they had 2x of the Eaton units left for $39!!

SO - everyone go into your local store to check!!

  • Thank you OP - managed to buy one.

Seems minimal stock left around Sydney, but you need to check stock locator function (trying different postcodes) on DSE product page and then phone the store to verify whether there really is one there.

DSE staff are helpful at confirming availability - they all go willingly and physically check the shelves - but DSE's own availability search function only lets them see their local area stores, so you have to do that bit.
