Origin Family and Friends Energy Deal: 5% off Currently Advertised Origin Go Variable Rates for 12 Months @ Origin

1940

I'll try again since original post was marked as not a deal…

Link is from deal here

No more $150 credit however "5% better rates than Origin Go Variable, as currently advertised on Origin Compare Plans"

The rates may not be competitive across the country, but i know they definitely are in Canberra.

Examples for Canberra below;

Standard Origin Offer (inl. GST)-

Daily Supply - 80.28 ¢/day
General Usage -19.88 ¢/kWh

ACTEWAGL (Capital Plan) *not available if you have solar

Daily Supply - 100.100 ¢/day
General Usage - 21.174 ¢/kWh

This Offer

Daily Supply - 74.539 ¢/day
General Usage - 18.455 ¢/kWh

For those on ToU

Daily Supply - 74.539 ¢/day
Peak - 24.78 ¢/kWh
Shoulder - 17.45 ¢/kWh
Off-peak - 13.73 ¢/kWh

The above Origin plans have a 10.00 c/kWh solar feed-in tariff (in Canberra)

Hope it helps someone.

**Forgot to mention that it also gives discounts on Gas as well.

              • @souths123: Not for me - maybe it’s different per location?

                • @evasive: maybe. Without seeing what your page shows, I don't know. I just know when I go to their main web page, without signing in, it shows a deal for Origin. Obviously you have to either click on the link in their emails to access the actual deal, or log in.
Actually, come to think of it, I have a feeling that this deal isn't available in certain states…prob because those states already have cashback deals through their state govts in various ways. NSW only have that for pensioners and low income households I think.

                  • @souths123: Yeah. I can also see it prior to login but it disappears when logged in and the only energy offer is sumo.

Huh Origin seriously charges 8 cents a day just because we have solar?

    • What’s the FIT? Yeah it’s normal these days. They gotta rip you somehow.

  • *Credit offer: Not available in Victoria or ACT. Offer available to residential electricity customers who sign up to Origin Friends and Family offer online. One credit per electricity account. If you end your plan before 15 January, you will not receive any credit.

  • I changed to Origin a month ago, and they instantly changed to this new deal for me online. Good find OP.

  • It's been a while, sorry if I'm commenting on an old thread.
I switched to Origin in December using a similar plan to this, and already got their 150$ credit, however I haven't received my first bill yet as it's not 3 months. However, I found another supplier that's cheaper (Globird) and I wanted to switch to them.
Is it ok to switch to another supplier even when I haven't receive my first bill?

  • I found out that I am currently paying a higher rate than currently advertised on their website under the same plan. Would encourage every one to check they are getting the correct rate
