Haven't seen a price this low on Amazon for a while. Personally I've cut back on energy drinks recently, so trying to hold out, but enjoy.

DAE smash 3 or more of these a day and find the effect is not there anymore? Moving to the c4 and musashi energy drinks now with beta alanine- basically an entry level pre workout to feel anything these days

    • +1

Had 2 a day (sometimes more) for about 10+ years. Didn't feel much of an acute effect, but enjoyed them. Cut back to save and reduce the dependence mostly lol.

      • wow.. 2 a day.. i once had 2 cans of monster, back to back n ended up in ED for palpitation.

        • +2

that seems humanly impossible lol, did you weigh like 50kg and drank 2 coffees beforehand or something lol

          • @abjsdhasehasee: no wer close to 50kgs, but yes i did have a coffee on that day before drinking monster. havent tried 2 cans from that day, i stop after my 1st can.
Discharge summary had the notes from the doc saying the energy drink was the reason behind my palpitation.

          • +1

@abjsdhasehasee: i drink these on and off - if i dont drink for a while, hits you when you start drinking them again

    • +2

Also in the same boat.. have 2 a day and now don't feel anything. Yet I feel compelled to keep drinking them.. :/

      • Yet I feel compelled to keep drinking them..

i had the same with redbull zero for a while

redbull zero 1st can: this is freaking gross compared to normal red bull

        a few hours later

YO GIVE ME MORE OF THAT REDBULL ZERO

Our brain do develop tolerance to caffeine with long term consumption which might be the cause? That said, I personally never looked into what other stimulants are in energy drinks, so who knows.

      • i did also try the SHINE drinks ( i get it at coles, im sure woolies would do it too ) - has green tea extracts and some other nootropic as i find it pretty hard to focus when i peak out on energy drinks/ preworkout - but just doesnt have same kick.

        • +1

Caffeine is a stimulant that's well known, so I think I assume it would be more effective than those that are not clearly defined as stimulants?

It might be worthwhile to have a chat with someone with more knowledge in these types of things. Caffeine is a stimulant, but how much of that boost is actually caffeine, not something else.

Used to for a year or two then moved to coffee. Probably saved thousands over the years by making the swap (not to mention the potential health benefits of cutting out all the unknown ingredients). A week here and there to reset the caffeine tolerance.

    • Because you build a tolerance to caffeine, you can try going off for a while but people have mixed results. This isn't unique to energy drinks people like to demonize, same thing happens with coffee drinkers.

Also caffeine is regulated in Australia don't think any other brands unless they are grey imports have any more caffeine per serve.

    • +1

i dont normally have more than 1 but often its after 3 or so cups of coffee and usually another 1 or 2 later in the morning, and yeah honestly i dont notice much in terms of a hit

  • +2

Does someone feel Aldi's energy drink is much better than redbull or monster?

    • +2

      Monster >

    • +2

I rate aldi the same as red bull, red bull goes down easier imo but can’t beat aldi price

    • +3

The Aldi energy drinks are good, but I like 500ml cans. I wake up, drink coffee, poop, take a 500ml can of any zero sugar energy drink with me while I spend hours gardening. Cutting down trees and cleaning up while cafed out of my mind, this is the way.

Sure I end up dehydrated but so far it's the most entertaining way to murder trees and clean up the remains.

  • the lower price is 38 bucks for this product if they are on discount

  • Good deal, last paid $64.80 with S&S a few weeks ago.

  • 48x250ml for $40 would be alright

  • +2

Does anybody else start feeling sleepy as soon as they take these energy drinks at night ?

I swear whenever I take the ackai flavour redbull I am so sleepy, within sleep within 30 mins of drinking that.

    • +1

its your body trying to immediately sleep to get the most out of the absoloutely shit sleep you are about to have from consuming caffeine after midday

    • actually yes, ive had them in the evening before bed and still slept fine. cant say it put me to sleep, but didnt do anything to keep me up

  • +4

Just a heads up to people who may not want to support Monster. They are one of the worst patent trolls going around. They basically think they own the word monster and have been trying to crush little developers for using the word in titles and ads

    • but it tastes good

    • +2

      they truly are monsters

      • +3

You'll be next on their hit list using their word against them!

  • was in costco last night and they had the rosa flavour for 35 a case

    • +1

Which Costco would that be mate?

      • +1

        auburn store

  • +2

Yes, these things have a fair amount of caffeine… but it's the amount of sugar I find astounding. Just one of these cans is the equivalent of a double shot espresso with 11 teaspoons of sugar! That would spike your insulin so quickly, and then you'll have a massive downer an hour later. Plus in the long run it puts you at risk of becoming insulin resistant (aka type 2 diabetes) (and particularly if you're making other similarly high-sugar food choices).

    • +5

2/3 of these are sugar free.

The one with sugar has 57g of sugar in 500ml (42.75g in 375ml); a 375ml can of coke has 40g of sugar, solo has 43g, pepsi has 40.9.

So not really any worse than a non-sugar free soft drink.

      • True. But being 500ml you drink more in one sitting. Plus, regular soft drink is terrible for you too, so it’s not really something to compare against and say ”see, it’s not that bad”.

Bottoms up! And the devil laughs
