Best-Value Options for Uber/Menu/Dash Delivered Food

Looking for best-value options for Uber/Menu/Dash delivered food, where I’m likely to get a decent serving of something that is freezable for later.

For example, I can survive off a family-sized pizza by myself (split over 3 meals) which for me is much better value than spending a similar amount of money on something like a gourmet burger which doesn’t last long at all.

No need to suggest specific restaurants (although if you do, I’m in Melbourne), but just more of a general suggestion of commonly cheap dishes/cuisines. Thanks in advance for any suggestions, and hope it helps other people too.

If you're in Melbourne just use Pippa's Kitchen. It's going to be similar in price to UberEats overpriced stuff and you're not going to get food poisoning.

Otherwise, just buy pizza from a store and freeze it pretty quickly. Try find a local place that delivers cheaper than Ubereats.

I feel like loading up at the chilled/frozen meal section at coles/woolworths/aldi might work out cheaper

I've been scoring those ready meals for 90% off lately when they are due to expire

Buy the proteins in bulk, and make yourself, if money is really an issue

Best-Value Options for Uber/Menu/Dash Delivered Food

Once you use those delivery apps, the word "value" just goes out the window.

Why not save that extra money that Uber/Menu/Dash charges for delivery service fees and spend it on actual food instead, by going to get it in person? Also, the items on the apps' menus are often marked up as well, so you might be saving more than just those fees.

Best value is to go and pick it up yourself. All these delivery companies mark up the food costs, plus have delivery fees and service fees.

Is it safe to say you don't cook? As cooking up a large meal and freezing it is way cheaper. You cook 3-4 dishes so you have some choice in the freezer.

For example, I can survive off a family-sized pizza by myself (split over 3 meals)

Costco food court pizza for the win then. Don't even need a membership, just say you're heading to sign up and go to the food court.

    • I do cook sometimes…it's just that when I'm a bit short on time I try to buy cheap and stretch it as far as possible.

Love the idea of that Costco food court pizza lol

It sure is. I have been making some great dishes which are on par with restaurant, and it doesn't cost much at all. Asian grocers are much cheaper than Colesworths too, especially for the veg. 99c for enough bok choi or gai lan for 3-4 meals. Best price for tofu too, I get extra firm 900g for $3.50-$4.

Go directly to the store, this usually doesn't incur the 30%+ tax + the "Service Fee" + the Delivery Fee
