Which Game Should I Get for Nintendo Switch?

I collect consoles and games. So, recently ordered an used Switch for around $200. Looks like even used switch games are so expensive than others.

If I can only buy a single switch game for the time being, what would you select ? Also, couch coop games are preferred as I like to play coop with missus.

Donkey kong? Mario Odessy ? Mario Kart 8? Browser's fury ?

Yeah if you want to get divorced

      • +3

Can you divorce your kids because of this game too? Asking for a friend.

        • +4

I remember calling my kids useless when we played Overcooked co-op

They were 8 and 5 at the time

@DGrayson82: Similar here…mine are 7 and 4. The 4 year old gets bored/gives up and just "fart" travels around the kitchen with the fire extinguisher…🤦

          • @DGrayson82: Sometimes kids need authentic feedback

In our house, if it isn’t Overcooked starting the fights, it’s Death Squared… both are grounds for driving your kids to the hospital and asking if you can give the, back… :D

    It takes two.

Mario Kart 8 but make sure you get the course booster pass
I've played Odyssey hoping it would be like my childhood Super Mario 64 but didn't live up to my expectations. Still was a decent game though.

Mario Kart 8 on Switch is the best Mario Kart ever made, very playable and great multiplayer.

Super Mario 3D World is fun for Co Op, for sure!

It is enjoyable but the rubber banding is annoying (it never lets you pull too far ahead of the competitors and never lets you fall way behind)

Unless of course you play online, then you get beaten senseless 😂

Mario Kart is my favourite switch game.

Cat Quest… I don’t know why, but I am so addicted to this game right now…

Untitled Goose Game is good fun…

They are not co-op, but are usually only a few $$ on The store.

Get on Dekudeals.com and check out what is on sale. They will have heaps of games under $10.

Odyessy is my pick, joyous game.

Agree.. it’s a great game. Plenty to find in the game, too

  • Thanks all, I am going to try "Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury", found for $55. I don't think I would be able to get any more games for switch soon, they are pretty expensive, more than 25% of the console :/

There are heaps and heaps of games for under $20 on the e-store. The big name, Nintendo developed games are quite expensive, but there are heaps of great games for not much.

Death Squared, that someone mentioned above, is a great multiplayer puzzle game is available regularly for $1.50.

Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time, Boomerang Fu, Moving Out, Stickbold, Blazing Beaks, Flat Heroes etc are all great multiplayer games and are available cheaply (well under $20 and as low as a few dollars) on the e-shop.

Quake is on special at the moment for $4.93 and includes multiplayer co-op and vs modes.

Unravel Two is a good 2-player co-op and is often less than $10.

Then there's free games like Rocket League and Fortnite.

Nintendo's own titles are expensive, yes, but there are lots of cheap games out there.

      • Thanks a lot for the info. I actually got this specially for exclusive Nintendo titles because I can't play those in other platforms. Too bad I didn't research about the price of used Nintendo games :D

  • btw, if i get nintendo online for $29 per year, can I play any old Nintendo games? is it too good to be true? I haven't played any N64 titles.

With Nintendo online there are 2 tiers - the regular tier and the Expansion Pack tier. The regular tier gives you access to NES, SNES and Game Boy games, the Expansion Pack tier adds in N64, Genesis and GBA games, as well as access to certain expansion passes for certain games, like the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC (unlocks 48 additional tracks, of which 40 are currently available, the last 8 to come in coming months).
Current list of games included: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nintendo_Switch_Online…

      • Thanks mate! is there any discount deals ?

  • +1

Hey mate, I feel like you shouldn't buy a Switch until there is that one must-play game that forces you to buy it. For me it was the Return to Kirbyland announcement, for lots it was Animal Crossing or Splatoon or MK8DX, but if you don't have a must-play Switch exclusive you are pissing away money on Nintendo tax you could put on to a handheld PC or whatever…

    • hehe kinda true! I was holding back for so long but time to time I feel like buying one for Mario, DK etc :D I don't like "Link" that much lol.
I actually have no idea about newer Nintendo games as I became a PC gamer after NES era (had a clone system when growing up lol), Nintendo weren't affordable for us.

I usually buy used games for other platforms when they are < $10-20 (or much cheaper from Salvos :D), but due to Nintendo tax, switch games are still almost at RRP when released. I have couple of SNES carts which I play from time to time with missus, such as Super Bomberman, Donky Kong, Mario Kart etc.

I've tried a million and one co-op games with my girlfriend, she always asks to go back to Mario Kart.
