Motherboard to Go with Ryzen 5 5600?

I hope you're all doing well. I recently sought advice from the OzBargain community about upgrading my CPU, and thanks to your valuable input, I've decided to invest in a new motherboard and CPU instead.

My primary goal is to get back into gaming (Single player first person shoorters, 15 years since last upgrade), and while I don't need to play at maximum settings, I want a smooth gaming experience with playable FPS. After some research, I've settled on the Ryzen 5 5600 for my CPU, but I'm now faced with a multitude of motherboard options, and I could use some guidance.

Here's the current state of my build:

Ryzen 5 5600 (yet to purchase)
DDR4 16GB (yet to purchase)
SATA SSD for game installation, but I'm open to considering NVMe in the future if necessary.
I'm connected to the internet via Ethernet, so built-in Wi-Fi is not necessary.
I have a Dell 27 monitor - s2721d, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440. Gaming in 2K would be a bonus, but I'm willing to drop to 1080p for smoother gaming if needed.
RX 6600 GPU
As for the tower, I'm not entirely sure whether to go with a mini or mid-sized tower. Should this decision be based on the motherboard I choose?

My budget for the motherboard is around $150, and I don't plan on overclocking.

I appreciate any advice or recommendations you can provide. Thank you in advance for your help!

Bought this not for gaming but for a hyperviser with trunas.
Getting transfer speeds on 2.5g lan at around 300Mb/s.
Stable board that doesn't run hot.
I'm running on board graphics so can't comment on gaming

    • Thanks sharing, bit over budget

This is my favorite AM4 board in general, basically ticks every boxes of features and connectivity you'd generally want on a motherboard.

    • Cheers tatsulotto, looking good

  • currently i think Intel offers best option

    Gigabyte H610M H DDR4 LGA 1700 Micro ATX Motherboard $99 + Delivery ($0 SYD C&C) @ Mwave
use the 40$ diff and get the 13400f

    • Thanks but I might try Ryzen Cpu, unless compelling reason to stick with Intel.
