USB-C Hub with a USB-C Display Port?

In classic OzBargainer style, I saw the offer for TCL Nxtwear Air AR glasses https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/782985 recently and found myself buying something I never knew i needed, but at a cracking discount.

The glasses connect via USB-C to a phone or tablet to mirror the unit's display output. Seeing as Samsung in their wisdom have removed a slot for micro-sd cards, it means my phone has limited storage space for offline movie or tv files.

I was thinking an easy solution would be a USB C hub that plugs into the phone, with ports for a micro SD card (storage), USB-C pass through (power supply), and USB-C display port to connect the glasses.

However, after endless hours on amazon, ebay, etc, it seems that prety much any hub i can find specifically says the usb-c data port cannot be used for video. They do have hubs with HDMI, DP and VGA sockets, just not the USB-C ones.

so, can anyone point me in the right direction for a hub that might achieve the seemingly impossible and doesn't cost the earth? Thanks!

I was thinking an easy solution would be a USB C hub that plugs into the phone, with ports for a micro SD card (storage), USB-C pass through (power supply), and USB-C display port to connect the glasses.

My understanding is that the usb port will be operating in different modes - On-The-Go when accessing storage, and Display Port Alt Mode when mirroring display. They can’t be done concurrently..

You can use a USB hub that has a USB C port in it.l, so that will work as pass through

It similar to what people used to add sd capability to Chromecast.

It's only a try but as someone above said, your phone might operate in a different mode.

Would be amazing but .. I cannot even find a USB-C hub with a handful of USB-C ports (and the usual HDMI and ethernet) let alone USB-C video .. why are they stuck on USB-A?
