Getting tempting… Could this be my post TOTK RPG? How is it for a (very) casual gamer?
Xenoblade are heavy on story part. Story wise, its a bit complicated for some people. Very different genre compare to Zelda.
And I recomend you play XC1 (XCHD) or XC2 before this, so you could understand what this is about. XC1 and XC2 has completely unrelated story, but you'll need to play one of it to understand what XC3 about.
Played XC1 and this and I don't think you need to play previous titles. XC3 can be played on its own. While there are some references, it doesn't take away from the core story and themes by playing this first.
I would argue that XC3 is the best gameplay wise and improved a lot from its previous titles (mid way through XC2) and would be the best starting point before exploring XC1 & 2
Not casual nor hardcore. It would sit in the middle but as mfu comment, it's very story heavy
