Where Are All My Friends Now?

I've been a Facebook user since 2007 and have been logging on most days since then to stay in touch with friends, read the news etc.

Recently I came to the realisation that very few of my friends are active on it, or X (aka Twitter) and many of the OG social networks. Given that I intended to use Facebook as a way to keep in touch with friends, this defeated the original intent of the platform so I deleted my account.

Since then, I have been feeling pretty good - not as many withdrawals as I expected, but obviously missing functionality like Marketplace. It has been good not being inundated with ads and toxic social media posts though.

But the question remains - where are all my friends now?

Have they left for micro social networks within WhatsApp, Discord and TikTok?

Have you left the large OG social networks too? Where do we go from here? Keen to hear where you've been.

Peace

Everyone has moved over to OnlyFans

    • Coming up next: "Where are all my fans now?"

  • Maybe they are meeting at a pub, having a beer and a chat face-to-face - old school style.

Who cares? Can't be much of a friend if they don't bother to try to keep in touch with you lol

Some people don't actively reach out to others - that doesn't necessarily mean they don't care, it just comes down to their own personality, often worrying too much about bothering others when they may be busy. I have a few people like that in my life, and I am aware that I need to initiate contact with them to stay in touch, especially if they are going through a tough time because they will struggle to reach out even more if they feel like their problems would be a burden.

Hey it's me in a nutshell

  • Only so many scam ads for binary trading platformsw where Bill Gates or Elon Musk are recommending how to make millions from risk free trading you can take. last time I logged into FB would be nearly 2 years ago now.

  • the only time I see Fakebook is watching TV '48 hours' cop murder investigation show where they're looking to identify the criminal from some shop CCTV video, get a suggested name, then look up their facebook page to see them wearing the same clothes with same distinctive pattern, often also waving a gun and a wad of cash

yeah - that's the guy we want to arrest - thanks Fakebook … !

  • Not on any social networks to busy with work and family to catch up with old friends.

  • They're probably all at Maccas waiting for their orders https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/793216#comment-14150601

  • We all just go on and never post

  • Friends are mainly on WhatsApp, whether I like it or not.

They had kids and aren't cool anymore. Revel in your awesomeness, you don't need them anymore.

  • I just use messenger, I was never one to post on Facebook anyway.

About a year ago I realised that all I was seeing were ads and barely anything from friends. So I gave up on the main platform. Now I only use Facebook Messenger to chat with friends. I no longer post to Facebook (or anywhere else) or read Facebook posts. I've kept all the friends on FB in case I ever want to reach out to someone or they want to reach out to me. But in short, I only really share with that close group of friends now.

  • They're out there, living their best lives!

  • If they don't miss you they are not your friends

Disconnects from the platform where with the last of his friends are… then wonders where they went.

Twitter always has, always will be, where the majority of vapid, practically useless people on the planet congregate to circle jerk. I use it only because competition sites require it to enter, nothing more.

How you got twice highlighted same time noicee

  • My friends and i still use FB but we have our own private group chat on messenger. I think thats what people are doing to connect with friends on FB these days instead of posting.

  • I thought a lot of friends are so fake on FB or X or Insta etc, so a lot of us move to whatsapp to have more meaningful conversations. I have chat groups with primary & secondary schools, uni friends and occasionally work colleagues.

  • Its like MSN or mIRC … oneday they just logged off for the very last time.

  • Facebook is for boomers these days. Too many conspiracy theorists and FB marketplace scammers use it. There's the odd good group on FB for neighbourhood meets but most of my friends use Instagram these days.

  • Depends how old you are?

You're on facebook I assume you're a millennial or older. Facebook changed, mostly a business platform now and I rarely see my friends post updates. If you want to keep in contact with your friends, message them (on any platform you think they're active on) and catch up…..

The hard truth is that we lose alot of "friends" as we get older, we focus on other things and forget we should catch up……

For me: I connect with my friends through Instagram and Whatsapp….. I am a millennial.

  • Isn't there a meme of TF2 characters about this. I don't know, my "friends" all went to way side post year 12. Single player games for me.

  • They’re all too busy on Tik Fuk and Instabitch doing their dumb routines

Only brain dead zombies actually watch that crap
