The website says Some assembly required

  • Hope everyone get their goods on time …. Just read ASX announcement of ToysRUs before spending too much on anything .. !

  • For an almost new 7.5 year rider, which one would be more suitable:
Hyper Camber Dual Suspension 50cm Kids Bike or Airwalk Bruiser 50cm BMX Bike?
    thanks in advance

    • Do not get a cheap dual suspension bike. It will be terrible.

      • Thanks mate

  • Read latest announcement before spending too much

Me zero in share markets, can you pls explain it

      • +2

i saw this add few days ago about discount and straight away checked their shares announcement and now it makes sense why they selling like this …i bought a bike from kmart instead this one as no guarantee if the business survives or nor … if it does then normal operation otherwise all the creditor needs to stand in a queue to recover their money and not sure what happens to warranty… !

so if TrUs a local shop i would buy and take away product on the same day but i won't online shop until they clear their finances.. !

Mine delivered within a week. Their processing was quicker than my expectation.

    • How much aftersales are we looking for for a $39 bike?

  • Looking for a 60cm bike, any decent deal anywhere?

  • Are these super heavy like the terrible kmart bikes?

    • Got a weight weenie 2-6 year old already mate?

      • My kid has a brick of a Kmart bike.. have to carry it up hills..

  • whoa, toys r us is still alive? i thought they went out of business already. where they bought out and continued, or is it the same company but online only now?

    • Not sure of ownership but yeah online only now.

      • +1

Whoever owns them have my money now. Lets see if they deliver the goods.

    • Their big drop was in late 2007, and have been struggling ever since. What happened back then?

      • +1

i think they became useless when you could just buy toys in kmart, bigw, target, etc…
so parents already shopped in those stores for there wants and needs. since they were there already, it was just more convenient to get what they have in the store, while they are there. especially kmart selling there toys for super super cheap. parents already know they will be bored of there toys 10 minutes after opening, or play with it for a few days and forget about it. they might not have the exact same toys that toys r us has, but they could find something comparable.
also you can buy the same toys on eBay, amazon, etc… without even leaving your house, so a lot of competition out there, plus toys r us is expensive.

that would be my guess, but im not a rocket surgeon.

  • Saw this yesterday morning. Was going to post and then lost reception and totally forgot about it. Getting old ..

$49 as well but not sure how it works compare to the hot wheels. Doesn't say it has a reverse pedal brake.

Obviously hard to go past, but remember that department store bikes are notoriously poor quality. Often referred to as a BSO- bike shaped object.
Repairs and adjustments are difficult and spare parts don’t exist.
For $40 this is possibly a risk worth taking. A second hand bike from a known brand could be cheaper in the long run.

    • +6

Mate, your child will grow out of this bike well before its useful life. However yes, if your 4yo is looking to do around the bay bike tour on these bikes then i would definitely look elsewhere.

      • Unless something breaks. And then the bike will be landfill.
Luckily your kids treat their bikes gently and have no chance of damaging them. Wouldn’t bet on it for mine.

        • +1

i had this type of similar bike from kmart and nothing broken and as other user said it will be a year or two before your child need another one as they grow taller … !

          • +1

@SydBoy: No one is saying that none of these bikes will reach expectations, especially at $40.

Just that if the dual suspension mountain bike for 7-11 year olds fails, there’s a good chance none of the components will be replaceable.

No gatekeeping, just something to be aware of.

    • +1

I feel that these types of bikes and the associated “oh well we’ll throw it away soon” attitude are part of what is wrong with the world. Cheap materials, cheap labour, then shortly afterwards ending up in landfill. I’d love to know what the externalised environmental costs of these cheap-for-the-consumer items are

  • This year's and next year's gift sorted 😊

Buy (or find for free) a bike second hand people. There's enough bikes in Australia for every kid and then some.

    • Finding good deals from 2nd hand market is a full time job itself. FYI, a guy is currently trying to flip the Bluey 30cm (the one in the first link above) on FB marketplace (Sydney) for $60. The tree hugger in me still doesn't want to throw $21 so just preferred ordering two new items for both my kids delivered for just above $100. :)

      • +1

Just cos some random bloke thinks his bike is worth 60 bucks, doesn't mean it will be of course. These bikes aren't great bikes, they are the basic run of the mill Chinese crap everyone sells with different stickers on them. Unless you are stuck on having the bluey stickers on it, I reckon you cna find the same bike for free or at least 20 bucks or so locally.

Either way, if you do buy them, please think ahead about who might be able to use it when your kids are done with them

    • I did that, but it needs new tire tubes and a service before it can be used.
So I brought one of these new as a cheaper option.

      • Tubes for these bikes are 3-4 bucks on Amazon and it's more work to put it together than it is to service it

  • Ordered the two small ones (linked in the bargain). Thanks OP.

I have a blue 4yr old kids bike, is it okay to use it for a girl? Or has to be a girlish colour?

    • -1

Blue is the new pink ;)

  • got shipping notification today!

  • +1

Bike arrived today (one of the green ones) and it's assembled and ready for tomorrow.

    • Good to know its assembled and ready to use. Mine should coming tomorrow…

      • I meant to say that I've spent the time putting it together. 😊

  • Received my order with parts missing and rust on the bike spokes.

Lodged a refund claim but not hopeful after seeing the state of the company.

    I would avoid.

  • thanks for this, ordered 2 scooters and a bike.
really good quality, better than kmart..i think.
