    Bookdepository has moleskines as well.
No idea if it's actually cheaper than this deal you've posted (I'm too lazy to start comparing).
But I just thought I'd put it out there.
The moleskines on Bookdepository are heaps cheaper than what you'd usually find in shops in Australia, for starters.

    • Good spotting mudkipz, I have had a look at bookdepository.com.

Bookdepository seems to have a selection of moleskine products as well. Although not as extensive as moleskine .com, some moleskine products on bookdepository.com are actually cheaper (e.g. $11.88 AUD for a Moleskine Pocket Plain Notebook with free shipping as well).

Please note that products such as Evernote Moleskin notebook, stationary and some limited edition notebooks are not available on bookdepository.com

I don't think that store.moleskine.com actually ships to Australia? However, I did just end up buying a 2013 daily hard pocket sized from bookdepository for just under $10 shipped!

Well, I usually pick up mine from Notemaker and it's a huge saving. Will probably pick up a couple of large plains, cheers OP.

  • The link defaults to http://store.moleskine.com/it.
Is this where i'm meant to be going?

I set my location as Australia and it says they don't service the area. Did I go to the wrong site?

Hi I also can't seem to get it working from the Molesjkin site, as I mpoved away from the Italian site and chose the UK but then when I try to checkout, it has only the UK as the shipping country and I can't change it to Australia.
With bookdepositary, I can't find any diaries on there when I type it in th seatch engine,,

    Help!!

    • Use http://www.moleskineasia.com/ . They have free international shipping.
They have a wider range of moleskine product and works out to be around 10% more expensive than bookdepository.

    We all love moleskine notebook.

Actually i've never heard of this stuff.

Anyone wish to elaborate on what i've been missing out on?

    • Quote from moleskine website: "The Moleskine notebook is, in fact, the heir and successor to the legendary notebook used by artists and thinkers over the past two centuries: among them Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, Ernest Hemingway, and Bruce Chatwin. A simple black rectangle with rounded corners, an elastic page-holder, and an internal expandable pocket: a nameless object with a spare perfection all its own, produced for over a century by a small French bookbinder that supplied the stationery shops of Paris, where the artistic and literary avant-gardes of the world browsed and bought them. A trusted and handy travel companion, the notebook held invaluable sketches, notes, stories, and ideas that would one day become famous paintings or the pages of beloved books."

To me and many other it is just a neat and stylish black notebook that works!

Just a brand of small, pocketable and reliable/sturdy notebooks that come in a variety of flavours: plain, lined, journal, grid etc. They're well-made but are relatively expensive. They're popular amongst journos and creative types, though imo there is better art paper out there.

I've heard that the paper in Clairefontaine notebooks were the best and that Moleskin paper isn't very good and there's a bit of bleeding.

Do any users find this issue?

    • I only Artline Superfine 0.2 exclusively with my Moleskine, any other ink pen will probably bleed right though.

Also, I would avoid using fountain pen with my Moleskine.

    • +2

      definitely
moleskine is overrated, and absolutely awful for fountain pens, as they bleed through quite a bit. they do however, look nice. :) on the other hand, my clairefontaine notebook is much thicker at 140gsm vs 70 gsm of moleskine.
but then again, a nice-looking diary for <$10 is a good deal! will just have to use ballpoint :(

    • +1

In my experience, the quality of the paper used in Moleskine notebooks varies from book to book. Then again, it's been a long while since I bought a Moleskine. Clairefontaine, on the other hand, is a paper manufacturer and quality control seems to be much tighter.

Like others have said, stick to ballpoints and gel pens for a Moleskine. Artline felt tips are probably as wet a pen as I would recommend, although that, too, bleeds through if you hold it in the one spot.

Lamy's Fine Nib doesn't bleed on my Moleskine. I also like Clairefontaine but can't discern much of a difference (YMMV with thicker nibs or more watery inks).

  • This deal is ridiculous considering that you can't ship to Australia.
