I will be heading to the Gold Coast in December - Does anybody have any experiences or suggestions for Accommodation and Attractions?

Thanks in advance.

  • I haven't tried this, but a friend told me about http://www.getawaysaustralia.com/welcome/page1.php
Prices do look good. Also the one day deals have some good prices, search allthedeals, scoopon etc for both travel and attractions, dining etc. Stayz too is not bad. Once I even found a fantastic place by searching to let by owner in Surfers, but this person doesn't let it out anymore. Realestate.com.au has holiday rental section too and cheaper than resorts. Do you know of anyone with Timeshare? If so they can get you rental weeks or bonus weeks if they are nice enough to do so. Shopper dockets are good for dining too and can be printed out. We use the local buses, http://www.surfside.com.au/documents/gagweb16DPS.PDF.
Personally we just love the beaches and stay in Coolangatta and Burleigh Heads, but if you're going to Theme Parks you may want to stay in Surfers. Don;t forget about Harbour Town, outlet shopping. Have fun!

  • We stayed in Bay Lodge Apartment, Surfers Paradise 6 years ago. Review is here:

  • I recently stayed in Blue Waters Apartments in Labrador, and found it quite reasonable.

  • Hey mate i'm not sure how long you're staying for and how many people but if its a family my favourite place is the Artique Resort (high level beach view.) If its just you or another Crowne Plaza is always a good bet, especially the gold tower it has nice marble bathrooms, good central location and good views even though its a few streets from the beach.

Also ebay sometimes has good cheap accommodation at circle on cavill and chevron renaissance. Both excellent choices as well. I'm not sure if they are still doing a lot of work in Cavill, haven't been for about a year but if they are you're much better off staying at broadbeach.

Attractions - Casino, Sea World, Harbour Town, Broadbeach, Marina Marage, Mini Golf, Then there's normal shopping centres like pacific fair, oasis, etc. The Beach… haha. If you're driving you should go on a day trip to coolangatta…or just stay in Coolangatta its so much better then the Gold Coast in my opinion.

    • But Artique Resort is the only place I have ever stayed where there are warning signs "$ to be charged for this..". For example, if you fail to take the rubbish out at the end of your stay, $50. Leave dirty dishes or not taken out of the dishwasher, $50, and my favourite, if you loose your keys down the lift, $300! The mind just boggles on that! Even if you accidentally break a glass, a fine and of course it's all fine china and crystal glasses- not. Left a really bitter taste in my mouth and was watching the kids to make sure they didn't sneeze even in case that caused a fine. Maybe even a federal breathing tax? Seriously, read the review on Tripadvisor before going there. I'd also recommend Coolangatta- no one to bother you on street corners.

  • wasn't there a great casino hotel deal a few months back? not the elderly asian tourism mag (?) but prior to that.

  • I needed accommodation on the Gold Coast a couple of years ago. I googled accommodation on the Gold Coast and selected locations that suited and got their email address.

I then sent one email with my requirements to all locations (All email addresses showing in the To box)

Amazingly I started my own internet bidding system with venues offering special prices to get my business !

I eventually got an apartment at 50% of the list price, very happy camper
