Ever Had a Competition Promoter Not Announce a Winner?

Has anyone ever encountered the scenario where the competition promoter simply… doesn't say who wins?

I entered this Hisense 75" 4K TV worth $1,699 promoted by "Hisense Partnership Hub" (thanks Phalaxis), waited til the draw date, looked at the page they said they'd publish the winner from 18 July, and… nothing.

Also checked the Hisense website and FB page just in case, and couldn't find it.

Finally called Hisense direct, got routed to their service team, and when I asked about the competition, the guy I spoke to confirmed it was theirs, provided a Hisense contact email to use (which I tried)… then nothing.

Not sure what to make of it, but expected a brand like Hisense to do better with these things.

I don't think they won this.

        Why not ?

        • +5

Because they were just thanking Phalaxis for submitting the competition, not letting us know weeks before the competition end date that they have won.

How do you know they weren't thanking for winning ?

@jv: Because they posted way before the winner was announced. Also the winner would normally say something like "Thanks I won!" and hit the button to say they won also.

So just because they got in early does not mean they did not win.

@jv: It is possible he had precognition of winning and was posting to thank OP as he knew he would win.

@jv: Following this conversation and thinking "who on earth is this thick" and then seeing that it was JV made me just go "ohhhhhh, yeah that tracks"

You don't hit 100k posts by posting quality all the time. 95% is just filled, posts for post sake, or complaining about Dan Andrews.

@SBOB: And most of the other 5% is inane nonsense.

Greenroom Digital is the one managing the comp. Contact them and see.

I recently got contacted as a winner after I entered a coffee machine giveaway by Bastille Festival in Sydney. I got an email saying that I needed to arrive at the event in the CBD which was 50 mins away that same day at around 4pm - but I got the email at like 2pm. They had an option to reply to the email and schedule a pickup at another time, which I tried to do and never got a reply.

I'm guessing someone in the staff just ended up taking the machine home for themselves lol.

Not the same as NOT announcing the winner, but I was contacted AS A winner but never got my prize :)

Yep. Happens all the time. Many promoters don't announce their winner(s).

I've won a fair amount of comps. And I've even judged a comp or two back when I used to work at some marketing firms in my uni days.

At the marketing firms, I'd just contact the winners directly via phone/email, tell them congrats and ask them to reconfirm their address. We didn't bother posting the news anywhere as they were subscriber only comps.

Thanks @neil Greenroom Digital have updated the website with the winner. Not me though. sigh

    • I wonder if they know C. Hunt from NSW.

Not on here, but never heard of anyone winning those Art Union comps where you win houses, cars, gold bars, holidays, etc…

Doesn't happen all the time but it does happen. On lottos competition website if the promoters dont list the winners quite a few of them will contact the promotor and usually gets listed eventually if enough people complain.

There is currently an interesting one, where the winner was listed, but turns out the company didn't follow their own terms and conditions which stated you had to be a resident of WA or NT, and comment with 25 words or less.

It wasn't for a minor prize either, it was a $10,000 trip to exmouth

you can check out their instagram post here .. https://www.instagram.com/bigstatebrewingco/

the promotors finally responded after a few people mentioned the winner they selected doesn't seem to be from WA and wrote 40 words.

I made a youtube/tiktok video explaining it if anyone is interested
