    STM Lens - AU $449.65

That is really cheap for a Scanning Tunneling Microscope Lens

I think we paid somewhere around $50K for ours…

  • Awesome travel lens, but not wide angle on an crop sensor so don't expect wide shots

  • +1

This lens is a bit weird
It made sense on the m series because it was proper compact, but none of the RF bodies are particularly slim and I think the 24mm might be a better buy

Put that on an R8 and you have a walkabout full frame weighing only half a kilo!

      • Agreed with @Puffy Vulva 🤨, the 22mm f/2 was a great EF-M lens. I could fit my M6II in my pocket with it fitted.

I have an R8 and I'd need a pretty big pocket to fit it in even without a lens. If I'm going to put a walk around lens on, I'd probably pick the much faster 50mm f/1.8 or the 24mm f/1.8 over the 28mm f/2.8.

I feel Canon can make a better pancake lens than this, especially at ~$500… I'll wait to these lenses are on the used market for <$200 before I pick one up.

    • Those are good points. I usually saw these as a general lens but for the last several years smartphone cameras with close but slightly wider focal lengths are so competitive in image quality and portability.

I still take out a 50mm 1.8 lens for the camera experience and image rendition but agree on why they chose 28mm instead of the more familiar 24mm.

  • Same price at their online store

    • I would go eBay as you can't be sure their online store has stock and maybe a pre-order based upon previous experience.
