Hikvision 4MP Vs Hilook 6MP Vs Dahua 8MP TIOC for Home Security Cams. Which Is Better ?

Hi All,
Looking for recommendations for security cameras for new home

Have selected few options. Requesting your expert opinion on which is better

  1. Dahua TIOC Advanced 2.0 DH-IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-ANZ 8MP AI Active Deterrence Full color Starlight IP Turret Camera

  2. HiLook 6MP IPC-T269-MU/SL All in One Camera with Blue / Red Strobe / Audio (ACDC)

  3. Hikvision DS-2CD2347G2-LU 4MP Gen2 Outdoor ColorVu Turret Camera with Acusense & Mic 30m White LED 2.8mm

Primarily, thinking to choose between 1&2 as 3. does not have active deterrence features

Budget - supply and install (5 cams) - $2500 - $3000

Features :
1. Good clarity. Not the best but good enough for evidence
2. Full color
3. Active deterrence - Flashing lights, 2 way mic etc
4 Low false alarm rate

Hikvision seems to be expensive w/ less features Requesting your inputs on Dahua va Hilook?
1. Clarity
2. Ease of use
3 . App privacy
4. Less false alarm
5. Better longevity

  • They both good cameras for commercial / surveillance but for home use, their notification are sux. No where near as good as Google / Ring or other equivalent brands.

Plus you need to budget for NVR and HD

    • Thanks

  • Figured I need a 8 channel NVR and 4 TB HDD along with 5 cams

Just want to understand from users who have these or are experts about the Pros and Cons

Like I heard the Dahua TiOCS alarm is triggered sometimes even when turned off from the app. Also things like privacy in terms of app.

Dahua is 8MP 4k but Hilook by Hikvision is 6MP Full HD. Some mentioned even with that Hilook has sharper images.

Dahua on paper looks tempting but trying to gather insights from people who have used or installed and got feedback from customers to make an informed choice

    • Just buy one from Aliexpress and test yourself. They be like $150 each ?

  • If you go down the Blue Iris route, 2, 3 and 4 are basically answered

    • Ok. Thanks

  • Wouldn't use Dahua myself - had reliability issues. Hikvision has a better reputation over the other two brands - more a commercial level product.

In terms of notifications to apps from CCTV/NVR - most I see turn the notifications off because they get too many false positives (shadows from trees moving in wind being the most common outside!).

Personal opinion - I wouldn't try to double up CCTV with detection. You can get products that do it (as you've noted)… but I haven't had good experiences with them.

    • Thanks so much. This helps ! Have decided to go with Hikvision

  • Just get Reolink for good reliability and decent image quality.

    • Thanks

    • I've installed/used both Hikvision and Reolink… and while Reolink I think is great for home and the quality is great for the price point… I don't think it compares to Hikvision in terms of quality and features. Yes Hikvision costs more and if costs is a key driver go for Reolink. But purely on quality and features.. Hikvision beats Reolink
