  • Where in your link does it say in-store prices?

Under 'Pricing & Fees' on Coles DoorDash store:

      • Merchant aims to match in-store prices for this location. Not entirely in store prices but the specials have been reflected in the price. Only things that I notice aren't reflective are when it is a multi-buy special. You will also be charged for the bags that the dasher uses, a charge which I wouldn't incur in store as I'd bring my own bags. Also you will be hit with a service fee of 10% (and small order fee if under $30), so not really in store prices. But stacking with grocery promos that doordash run will counteract this

  • Heard it on the radio

  • +3

Yeah nah not after the service fee

    • Can counteract it with discounted doordash gift cards, but yes I agree it is slightly misleading

  • +3

Both DoorDash and Uber Eats have Coles at "in store prices", before the 10% (uncapped!) service fee.

Why would you ever want to pay Coles express prices?

    • Applies to Coles supermarket too

      • +1

Yeah I've been ordering for probably 6 months now, old news.

  • +7

This sounds more like an ad than a deal.

Keep in mind there's a ~10% service fee.

  • +4

I'm getting 12% service fee across the app :/

Plus 10% service fee, plus delivery fee if you don’t have dashpass. But it’s still a great deal, especially if you have student dash pass. Takes at least half an hour to get to coles, shop, and back right? For $3, and $5/$10 a month, you can get regular $30 shops done for you while you ripping bongs or slamming beers at home. Bargain.

    • The bongs & beers would add up though - cheaper to do the grocery shop yourself.

Also, who spends $30 on a grocery shop unless you're ordering every day?

      • Order every day, it isn’t more expensive than doing a big order with Dash Pass. Same 10% service fee.

I had a 40% discount offer and it still wasn't worth the risk of them stuffing up or cancelling items. $5.99 delivery fee for <1.5km + DoorDash ripoff service fee. Coles on eBay was bad enough.

    • Agree with this. I tried Coles on ubereats and they managed to deliver 1 out of 5 items I ordered.

  • Instore price was not honoured for me a while ago. 50% off special price was at full retail price. Avoid doordash

    • Yeah usually if its first day of a new catalogue specials arent up to date and they dont honour if the in-app price is higher than store but if the in-app price is lower they definitely charge you the higher price.

  • This has been the case ever since DoorDash started doing Coles.

Every time I've ordered, the things that were on special in-store a couple of days prior - when I was in-store - were also on special on DoorDash. My guess is they use the same backend pricing system.

As for delivery prices, if you don't have DashPass, it can add a chunk, but it's pretty rare that Coles can deliver in the same short time period as DoorDash.

    • Coles can, but they just use DoorDash if they aren nt available. And they charge a lot more for free delivery subscription, but they don’t charge a aervice fee. DD is still better value.

Coles Express does NOT sell items at in-store prices everything is $5+ more than in-store prices for example - A 2L Coca Cola bottle in-store is $3.50 - Coles express it's $7 double the price of 1 bottle so do not get fooled with this post.

Also Coles Express has been on DoorDash for several months.
I used to think 7-11 was the most expensive store on DoorDash but Coles Express is far more expensive.

They give you almost expired products. Like bread to eat within 2 days.

Lol how is this a deal. I’ve heard nothing but bad stories from door bash shopping on your behalf, check reddit. And also service fee m. Big no!

I’ve heard nothing but bad stories from door bash shopping on your behalf,

I've only had one 'bad' experience, where they bought a replacement item at twice the price. This was before I realised you can set what you want to do with out of stock items. DoorDash refunded me the difference anyway, so I was happy with that.

I've had another dasher call about an item out of stock, even though I said to refund. She called because the non-bulk pack of dog chews were on special. Excellent service from her.

I keep reading about how DoorDash is so horrible, but apart from not ringing the doorbell or knocking, I've had pretty good service from them.

      • This I agree with. I've had similar experiences myself.

1 time I ordered 2 packets of cupcakes at $4.70 each from Coles and the Dasher ended up going for 2 packets that were on special for $3 each (because they were about to expire the next day) Dasher never told me about this so I contacted DoorDash and got a refund.

Then another time I ordered 2 2L La Ice's for $3.20 and the Dasher ended up getting me 2 2L Coca Bottles for $7 which again Dasher never contacted me over this (I found out when I was charged extra) and so again I contacted DoorDash and got refunded.

I don't know why DoorDash has so much negativity when it comes to ordering from them from so many people on here. DoorDash has been nothing but awesome for me when it comes to issues.

Maybe it depends on where you are. Maybe overseas it's rubbish.

Careful when ordering Spam from Coles Express.

The one in my area sold me 2 expired Spam cans one from 2021 and the other from 2022. The 2021 one I ended up opening without looking at the date and it was disgusting and smelt like perfume. I reported this to Coles on Facebook hoping something was done.

Just thought I'd say this if anyone decides to order food products from Coles Express. Always check the date.
