    Brilliant camera, great price!

I bought the 5N with twin kit lens for this price last yr Dec -
    Feedback
Camera - Great camera, almost good as a mid end DSLR, full 1080P video with auto focus, amazing in low light. Handles high ISO without any issues. 10fps is just a big bonus and being sony its just packed with loads of other fancy features you might like to play with get some artistic effects.

Down side with this camera is that it is such a smart camera if it would have had a proper hotshoe it could easily compete with mid end DSLR in almost all aspects. It uses an external flash and it is a tiny flash, you can buy another slightly bigger but thats not that good either.

10fps with the exposure and focus fixed at the first frame. So no contunous auto focus whilst shooting at 10fps. Makes it kind of redundant unless you shoot something sitting still…

The soon to be released new model NEX-5R (mid-late October) will have continuous auto focus and other new features.

And that's probably why this model is discounted @ DSE and will be discounted at other places too.

The NEX-6 will also be announced in a couple of days, with EVF, built-in flash and a new hybrid hot shoe.

That's nice, but that's a new model not out yet, and not for this bargain (apprently not so much according to the latest posts) price.

The camera is a good little thing, but with it's limitations. The 10fps is a herring in my opinion as it's crippled and not particularly useful, it's just marketing gumpf.

        • I have this camera, I find it produces IQ better than my previous m4/3 camera. You'll be paying a premium for the 5R as it's the latest and greatest…

    • Define “mid-end" DSLR please. you mean something like D300S of Nikon?

      • You have the entry levels the cheap SLRs then you have the top end (expensive toys), everything in between can be classed as mid-end
Different brand have different models to fit this category - you can check technical comparison from snapsort-

      • Mid level dslr Canon 7D and Nikon D7000

    • That's not for the whole bundle that this deal is though.

      • 16G memory card + 7" digital photo frame for $200 extra, you do the maths.

Or you can buy the Silver one here for $799, i managed to haggle it down to $750 and get a 16GB Extreme Pro Memory Card for $50

yeah this is good camera, very well built.

  • Limited to the first 20 customers?
Is this a bargain if it has limited stock?

  • Is the deal sold out? It was for first 20.

  • camera only for $796

damn..i just bought this last night from t-dimension with 2 lenses for $622
still cheaper..but local warranty would have been nice… hmmmmm

    • They rarely break don't worry.
With the current advancement of digital photography, you will want a newer camera before it breaks.

ie. the upcoming Sony RX1 :)

  • A friend of mine has this camera. The picture quality is awesome, better than Canon 7D.
