how come some of these have photos that look like they’ve been scanned and re-scanned 10000 times?

    • I don't know but some of the titles don't even match up with the photos, it's for an entirely different watch, it's been like that for these Casio watches for a long time though on Amazon. But at least the actual product you'll receive is the one in the photo and spec table.

    • the image is clear when you go on the actual listing

  • Casio G-SHOCK DW6500-1 $74.70,

    Did you mean DW5600-1?

    • +1

      My mistake, fixed. Thanks.

  • Casioak from $103.
Could you link please? All the ones I can see are above $200

    • Looks sold out, there was a few colours available when I first posted.

  • Thanks OP!

Got the GBD200-2D bluetooth pedometer/activity tracker with nice negative display.

  • Don't mind the new GAB001, haven't seen it cheap yet.

Word of warning, suggest looking at the negative Casio GW-B5600-2DR, pretty dull and hard to read in some light and angles ended up selling mine.

Still seems a bit expensive for the Casio royales should have kept mine for the sake of $30, now they are always over$40 or more.

    • +1

I modified mine to be positive, and it makes it so much easier to read, easier than DW5600 and G5600!

      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/461830/105936/3squares.jpg

      • Good job mate, looks king.
Was going to do the same but thought I may bodge it up and was a bit hard to find the film in Aus. I got that camo GW-B560OMG instead, positive solar bt.

PS. Thoughts about A158 vs A168? Is the A158 the choice for a vintage classic? (The A168 is about $40 vs $70, thicker/bigger, better backlight, bit newer). I think the A158 better proportions and smaller for smaller wrists.

Also thinking about the AE-1300WH for $40, not as popular as teh AE-1200 I sold (now $67 on Amazon).

        • Shame about AE1200 not being lower, I've been looking for one of those at a lower price.

I've got a A158, but I like the idea of the A168 for the EL backlight, but to be honest, if I know I'm going to need to be reading the time in the dark, I normally just pick a watch with good EL or LED (normally g-shock square), so I'm happy with just the A158.

I've picked up one of these, B5600 with combi bracelet, think this will look great after modding to positive LCD.

          • @flapperino: Yeah i should have kept the AE1200. Been looking on Amazon US, still not sure if we get free shipping but would work out cheaper getting a couple.
Can get the gold one from Amazon US for US$23 https://a.co/d/0RKi13X , ok if going to mod to a steel case kit anyway- not sure i would be bothered but fun.

They got the 158 for US$21 as well. Think I'd get the A168 though given the pathetic light on the A158.
Agree about auto EL, the squares are great - perhaps as 'retro' as i need to go. Even though the AE1200 and A158 are collector's staples, i'm not sure how often I would actually wear them (but cheap enough). The AE1300 and WS1600 aren't really as desirable as the world time (focus) watch.

I also have a Yellow Gab2100c-9a solar/bt which is a fun weekend watch.

That combi will be a good project!

ps. just put a price protection claim in for the GW-B5600-2DR
            Cheers OP!

edit: picked up the A168 for $42 :).

            • @G-rig: Who is the price protection claim with?

              • @matt-ozb: 28 Degrees.. originally paid $184 from ebay, the next cheapest price was $179 so wont mind getting back $42 (which pays for the A168. Depending on how it wears i'll keep that or the A158 for $27. I think the older model thickness may suit me better and always wear a fitbit charge 4 as well if i want auto EL.

      • How did you modify it?

  • +4

    Best seller at the moment:

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Casio-Mens-A158WA-1DF-Digital-Watc…

This listing has the incorrect title "CASIO Men's MW600F-2AV Sport Watch with Black Resin Band", but the URL, images and reviews are for the 'A158WA'. Anyone else noticed this?

    • +3

Is it worth purchasing and would you get a refund (and get to keep) becasue it doesn't match the description?
The A168 is only $15 more - I have been comparing to two (the light is pathetic in the A158, just like with the F91w)

      https://www.benswatchclub.com/blog/casio-a158-vs-a168

Blast it, ordered both will see which one wears better - thanks @dollarydoos.

    • +1

@dollarydoos I got both but returned the A158. Can't say I like the light on the A157 but like the more thin form factor and bracelet wears better and cheaper. Not bad at $27.

  • +2

Thanks OP , got the last GW-B5600-2DR.

  • That all black Casioak for $103 is a steal. Damn.

  • Thanks OP got a GM2100

  • Thanks OP, scored F91W.

    • I hope you got it off eBay. They are $17 delivered everyday there.

      • +1

wasnt there a thing about some ebya f91w being fake? (i mean…of all the things to counterfeit, why f91w right?)

        • That makes sense. Cheers

      • +1

Yes, there are talked about the one on eBay being fake, at least with this one is Sold and shipped by Amazon Au for a piece of mind.

        • piece of mind.

          Classic ozbargain

  • Anyone recommend a cheapish Casio with a really good backlight, have a g shock with camo in the face but orange light I find is pretty average

  • Anyone know a cheap place to get a black metal band for the casioak? So far best I found is about $80.

    • +1

      AliExpress

  • That didn't last long.

    • That's what she said..
Will have to decide which out of A158 and A168 to keep.

  • +1

I know the atomic radio feature is useless in Australia, but I still have my eyes peeled for a cheap 5610. Worth it for the aesthetics alone imo

    • A guy at work got one of those from Amazon JP, not cheap but apparently the red one is the anniversary edition or something.
      Actually looks like it's US$98
      https://www.amazon.com/Casio-G-Shock-GWM5610-1-Tough-Solar/d…

I've heard that too, but thought there was an atomic clock in Syd. May or may not work everywhere in the country (hard to know).

      • The one you linked is basically the one I'm after, except the 5610U version with the updated module

        • All pretty similar as far as these go hey, but agree modules make a difference.
i like have the AUS DD-MM date format & bluetooth (both of my G-Shocks have it now and the time stays synced).

    • +5

      For syncing Radio controlled watches:
      https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jntc.clock…
      https://apps.apple.com/us/app/radio-wave-sync/id1484233572

Lets your phone speaker generate a time signal that will set your watch's time for you. Some of the time signals can be loud, some of them are silent! This app can set and sync the time on a whole watch box full of radio controlled watches in one go, pretty handy!

    • Atomic works in Queensland using JJY. Because Queensland does not have daylight savings, and you set the watch on permanent Tokyo daylight saving time.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JJY

      • Amazing, I had no idea the signal could travel that far

        • Google ground wave propogation and prepare to have your mind blown by this 100 year old technology.

      • interesting, everyone says it doesn't work in Aus.
Maybe Qld is the exception (Tokyo one hour behind Qld)..

  • [Edit: sorry, meant to post as a reply]

    • That's ok. Apology accepted.
