Software or App to Reconcile Online Purchases with Bank, PayPal etc

Can anyone recommend the easiest software (Windows or Android) to use to reconcile my online purchases (I'm a stay at home carer, so almost everything is purchased online) from groceries, Amazon, eBay and numerous other online stores with the purchasing methods statement (Savings, Visa, PayPal etc.). Is a budget app what I'm looking for? I have found a couple of purchases on my Visa that I don't recognise, and the information included is unhelpful. While I clear that up during bank hours, it occurred to me, I'm way too casual in keeping track of my online purchases. It's easy enough with printed receipts and in store purchases. If nothing simple is available, I'll start a ledger and write everything down and just reconcile that regularly with my different payment methods.

You can usually export csv files of bank transactions. I would be recommending to find something that allows you to import this information. There are loads of budget spreadsheets out there that should have the reconciliation ability you’re looking for.

The alternatives are likely third party platforms that require you to provide your bank logins, which is usually against the T+Cs of your bank accounts and will mean you aren’t protected in the event of fraud.

We have found Frollo to be great. My partner and I added all our accounts into it and it's been really good having a single consolidated view.

An alternative to Frollo is WeMoney. Or if you have a ubank account you can do that too.

All of these aforementioned apps (Frollo, WeMoney, ubank) use data from your banks (once you've provided consent) as part of the ACCC regulated CDR (Consumer Data Rights) which many banks are required to implement. All Big 4 banks, including several 2nd tier banks have gone live since November last year. Many more should follow by the end of this month.

CDR do not (and will never) require you to provide your login details to get access to your account & transaction data.

    • Are you sure ubank uses Open Banking/CDR? I was surprised (and disappointed) when it asked for login credentials when I tried to "Connect accounts" from other banks.
