    What seafood?

    Lobster, fish, crab, prawns, platter?

I'm not a fan of the boils where they just dump it in front of you. You can do that at home at 1/4 of the price.

At the moment Mud Crabs are available pretty cheap. It was $30 a pound at a Chinese restaurant in Glen Waverley.

If you're after a traditional plater, the ones at Richmond Oysters look good. I've been there a bunch of time but haven't had the platter but all the seafood I've had there have been good.

Having said that Melba is quite good. Been here for their (Canadian) Lobster night, it wasn't nearly as good as the Australian Rock Lobster at Chinese restaurants, I still had 2 since it was a buffet after all. Their Japanese/Sashimi bar is good, as is the unlimited oysters.

    • You gave me ideas for the weekend. Wife needs unlimited oysters :-)

      • Wife gets unlimited oysters.. does that mean you get something else in return?

        • an empty wallet

  • Have never been but Rubira's in Port Melbourne is supposed to be good, tomorrows menu is still swimming.

  • A lot of Chinese restaurants do fresh seafood, some of my favourites are Taste of Cantonese (Ringwood East), Walrus (Springvale), Red House (Ferntree Gully) and K.Ho (Burwood).

Some buffets like Conservatory and China Bar Buffet (Burwood) have lots of seafood options.

China Bar Buffet has definitely changed, it's more of a Grill these days and according to the recent Google reviews not very good.

      • Good. I was wondering how that place goes.

  • Lobster Cave in Beaumaris

    • Pay through the nose and while good it wasn't better than I can get elsewhere for around 1/2 the price, which probably explains how they can often run buy $100 voucher get $200 value as this is the only way you get the true value of the place
We went with someone for their birthday as it was their favorite restaurant and they raved about how good it was but they hadn't been for a few years, after having moved, they were so upset about the quality and pricing the cheapest thing on the menu was beer battered whiting with chips $79.99 the next cheapest was a steak $99.99, side of chips $19.99, side salads were I think around $30.00

      • Yeah agreed. Prices are high there.

  • I like Kickin'Inn at Port Melbourne.. Their Shabang sauce is really nice…
