512MB of RAM is the old version, the latest version has 1GB, no deal, give us a better deal on the one below…

    • What's the main benefit of 1GB ram for these boxes?
And will this thing run XBMC yet?

      • ram doesnt need to swap as often for new apps to open, multi task alot more efficient, as it is likely for these devices

      • +1

More RAM also means less freezing and less app crashes.

I was umming and arrrring about buying this when it was available, yesterday for $80. : (

How does this one compare. Please.

    • that wouldve been bargain for $80, if the cpu is what i think it is (rk3066)

  • Its a rk3065.

  • Would this be able to run XBMC?

  • I bought one of these

For $56, and i was quite blown away by how snappy it actually is, has no trouble playing angry birds at 1080p. i know angry birds isn't exactly a very taxing test but for $56 i was pretty chuffed. havent given XBMC a go yet but i will be soon.

    • I was looking at those (more so the MK806 version) yesterday but it didn't seem to be able to able to playback very well on XBMC from the videos I watched :(

    • Excatly, the mini ones are much more portable, cheaper and apt for what we all want to use it for…, but this one is supposed to have more expansion slots and a remote control, all of which will depend entirely on purpose i guess…

    • doesnt do MKV tho, but does the apple mp4 H.264 format

  • all well and good

does it support webcam for Skype ?

  • I wish they had a network port… can't imagine streaming 1080p over wifi.

    • they do have a 10/100Mbps port. Not the mini tho…

      • Wireless N is faster then 10/100

        • Greater bandwidth in theory, yes. In practice, rarely.
streaming over a cable is much more reliable than wireless.

      • I see it now in the pics, but completely omitted in the specs (which was what I jumped straight to).

    • Ooh, is that the same exact hardware? This would be awesome if so…
      (thanks for the link too)

      .. A8 vs A9 I see now ?

      • Ignore this (can't edit now) I assume you're suggesting an alternative with different hardware, which while great looks to be almost twice the price with ~$45 shipping!? :o
Pity, would be perfect little media box otherwise.
