PetCulture Is closing down

I'm unsure if this is worth a post,or not.

I'm disappointed as i used to get free access to Vetchat. I would use it when my vets we're closed, needing a second opinion, etc.

Dear Charbel,

We regret to inform you that we’ve made the difficult decision to close down the PetCulture business.

Closure Date: Our last day of trade will be September 13th 2023. We're notifying you in advance to allow ample time for you to organise alternative arrangements for your pet's ongoing needs.

Was it free? Or was it a bonus service because you paid for another service?

    • Pretty sure you only had to have an auto delivery on something.

        So not free.

        • +1

auto delivery can always be cancelled and doesn't cost anything so it is free.

auto delivery is free on Amazon…

@jv: I hope whatever you been smoking is free jv.

Kind of,I guess? I went the auto delivery route. I picked the cheapest item and selected the longest months i would need the item again, lel

"I'm unsure if this is worth a post,or not."
worth if they are doing massive genuine clearance sale

    • They have 30% off everything which isn't too bad, but nothing to write home about really.
Far better deals to be had when there are cashback deals on pet products.

      • yeah so they still try to make money before closing down. typical
just keep eye for another few weeks maybe that 30 will become 50 then 70

    • Their clearance sales are kinda meh, tbh. I have found cheaper products elsewhere

      • yeah like i said, it typical. some company saying we are closing, here is big clearance, all must go blah blah blah
but they still trying to rip people off
        so, yeah just wait

    Petculture Is closing down

    Political correctness gone mad !!!

  • Bugger… nothing for Bearded Dragons :(

    • What else is your mother in law into?

  • Woolies owns it. They recently bought PetStock.
There's little point of having competing brands under the same umbrella. Look how well that ended up for Target (being outperformed by KMart).

    • why can't it be like Kogan vs DickSmith, or UMart vs MSY,

just have 2 website with different logos selling the very same product.

      • Because clearly there wasn't big enough separate communities, or a brand/value differentiation or even a physical store presence/differentiation.

Pet Culture was clearly very much an "online" sales channel and as such just duplicated rather than differentiated in any significant way (additional profit or market share) compared to what PetStock already did..

I prefer Target. Kmart always seemed a bit shabby to me. They should combine the brands and call it Tarmart, or Kmet.

      • +1

That's kind of the point of Kmart - cheaper and lower quality than Target (which isn't exactly best quality itself).
