Anyone Know What Has Happened to NoDoz Availability?

I have been trying to procure NoDoz tablets for some time. Most vendors appear to no longer carry those without the extra vitamins (e.g. NoDoz Plus, in the yellow box). Colesworth still readily carry this one but don't wantem.

It is still listed on many websites, but with no availability anywhere (either online or in-store), e.g. Chemist Warehouse

I tried to purchase through online chemists that listed restock in early Feb, but got refunds.

I have found these NoDoz to be great - 20c/dose, does not trigger a bowel event like coffee, 100mg allows for fine tuning of caffeine level. Also don't want to pay more for the extra vitamins.

Does anyone know why these are no longer carried by vendors?

Anyone else had positive experiences with Amazon-listed varieties? most tend to be more expensive and have other inclusions (e.g. L-Theanine, again I'm not interested in any other additives).

Based on the fact that you were told re-stock in Feb and then received a refund, I'd say they have likely discontinued or they're experiencing supply issues with the white box version (assuming that's what you're referring to). In saying that though, it's still appearing on their website so who knows.

Looks like Key Pharmaceuticals are the ones that own NoDoz, have you tried reaching out to them via their Contact Us Form?

    • Cheers will look into it

I'm curious why you don't? The caffeine dosage is still the same @ 100mg, just that they add Vitamin B1 and B3

    • 21c a dose instead of 20c probably.

    • 24 pack of NoDoz plus @ $6.85 normal price = 28.5c/dose, that's nearly 50% more expensive

  • There goes the black market price.

Go to any Uni & there will be students who have hoarded it, reminiscent of the great toilet-roll stash thanks to 'rona.

The bowel event is the best part about coffee.

I switched to Trucker's Choice years ago. Pretty sure @Jimothy Wongingtons swears by them as well

    • "Trucker's Choice" Stay-Alert Capsules are a pretend type of over-the-counter energy pill that Bart Simpson bought a container of with his stolen credit card, so that Lisa Simpson could stay alert in her intellectual pursuits. They ended up making Lisa irritable and stressed.

The one time 'bikies' is probably the correct answer, and no-one said it!

I get these 200mg ones from STC Scientific on ebay and then half them in bulk at home and take them half at a time.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/262791630494

Ends up being pretty cheap per tablet. Much cheaper than the No-Doz yellow boxes at least.

    ~3.3c a tablet half.

    • Don't rate those much. They are mixed with too much filler imo. Nodoz is cleaner + better manufacturing. Speedy supps caffeine and theanine mix wasn't too bad..

Yeah I just bought these and getting headaches and no caffeine stim. There is a lot of filler. Seller isn't responding to me either

  • I think they ran off with the disprin, can't find them either.

  • Reverse engineer by extracting pure caffeine from coffee?

OP sounds like he needs some Zonein Truckies Formula https://www.rhinonutrition.com.au/shop/zonein-truckies-formu…

Comes in handy 1L 200 serve industrial cleaner grade (if you're a wuss) containers.

      ARABICA CAFFEINE

      Single origin?

  • Nodoz yellow box isn't too bad. found it cleaner than ebay stuff. They can't sell pure caffeine as deaths have happened. 400mg/half a gram of pure is enough to send sensitive people to the hospital/cause arrythmia.

      • Hmm, more like some kid took a heaped teaspoon, confusing it with protein powder and died. "That kid" was the son of the NSW state coroner and federal law was changed few months after that.

  • I had a look at a pharmacy supplier's product search, looks like the 24 pack of No-doz is out of stock at the moment, but the 100 pack is in stock. Maybe you can try to order through some pharmacies that order with Symbion?

    • Cheers might have a go

tried a couple of the online hpharmacies to no avail

  • I have found these NoDoz to be great - 20c/dose, does not trigger a bowel event like coffee

    True.
But I was close to having liver failure (high levels of ALT) after taking them everyday.

  • If you're after a pick-me-up then have a look at Modafinil . I've been taking them since 2017 and they are safe. I'm a 3 shift shift worker , doing late/earlies, 8 hr gap between shifts, and Modafinil has been a life saver for me.

    • Yeah… Probably want to get a legit source as there are some bad side effects. Especially modalert or provigil. then again those should have been recalled by now.

      • I have only heard of one side effect relating to armodafinil and it could cause skin irritation .
Love to see the links regarding bad side effects , thanks

        • Yeah… my flatmate had that severe rash. Side effects: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/325963#provigil-vs…

2009 batch of provigil was recalled as that batch seemed to cause psychiatric illnesses more than other batches for some reason. Hard to get info as that company seems to have scrubbed the net of articles. Or they got deleted over time.

    • How do you get that, thought was prescription?

  • So there are no severe allergic reactions listed. Skin rash is a very common side effect for a lot of Pharmaceutical drugs and one variant of Modafinil just happens to be one of them. Government recalling batches of Pharmaceutical medicines is common. The fact that this drug has only been recalled once and it was in 2009 is evidence that it is a very very safe drug.
To the best of my knowledge at least half of ICU medical staff are on Modafinil that includes the ICU consultants all the way down to the nurses. Modafinil has been used for many years amongst medical students who are studying. As for my own anecdotal evidence I have my bloods done every year and they are perfect no problems with my liver function tests. I had a reaction to the binding agent used in armadafinil.
The drug itself is also being used off label to treat ADHD and some forms of dementia.
I used to take nodoz and then I was recommended Modafinil and it really is quite amazing as it improves memory recall, stops you yawning at that time in the afternoon when you would normally feel tired. I come home from a long day at work and I'm not wanting to fall asleep on the couch at 7pm.

  • Modafinil is far more effective. It really feels like you've had a full night's sleep.
