Questions about Netflix Turkey

After reading a comment in a deal today that asked why anyone was still using Netflix AU…I have some genuine questions as a long-term Netflix AU user. I was going to post these under that comment, but felt they were more of a forums thing.

I've done some searching, but would love to hear from anyone who is currently using it…

I think I keep finding old information because it seems to changing reasonably quickly (e.g., cost….it looks to be around AU$4 for the lowest plan vs $11, but that was earlier this year).

Is it risky to use the Turkey version? What are the risks?

Does it still have the same titles?

Do you need a VPN to use it or just to set it up? I have never used a VPN in my life.

Is it just paid by gift cards?

Thank you!

Is it risky to use the Turkey version? What are the risks?

AFAIC the only risk is on Netflix and my consuming family that doesn't deal with the cc statements - when Turkish prices become unavailable then Netflix stops being a fixture in our house.

That's it… I have had Netflix since the beginning and I don't even share it. It's been in Turkey for some time now.

If they create more difficulties, block my account, or make it impossible for me to keep subscribing in Turkey, I will just leave. Not painful at all.

If you're referring to ISP's netflix turkey deal, that one gets updated a fair bit based on info provided by users.

The cost will obviously vary due to exchange rate since it will be charged in TL.

You will need VPN to sign up and apply the initial gift card, however, ISP has been helping people do that so you might get lucky if they have the capacity to do it for you (you still need to create netflix account and buy the TL gift card for them to apply it).

Search OZ bargain for Turkey and have a good read.

    • I've been reading it for a while, but can only see people saying that it's better than the AU, but that the price is rapidly increasing. Nothing about any downsides.

  • +1

There is no downside. VPN is only required for sign up. You will get same Australian content if login using normal non VPN connection as the titles available on netflix are based on login IP not what country you signed up in. It's paid by credit card

Not always. I just signed up with gift card option and the account doesn't work with out a Turkey VPN. According to the thread it will last for 30days. Turkey VPN makes 4k Atmos content unwatchable due to speed.

The you are doing it wrong if you need the VPN.

        • The first question in the FAQ in the Netflix deal Q: I just signed up and when I go to watch something I get the following error: "Your account can't be used in this location" read it.

Is it risky to use the Turkey version? What are the risks?

You risk your netflix account being banned. That's about it. Just create a new one I guess.

Does it still have the same titles?

Netflix titles are regional - since you don't use a VPN when you're using it in Aus, you get the Aus region titles.

Do you need a VPN to use it or just to set it up? I have never used a VPN in my life.

For setup yes. It's just software to pretend you are in a different country.

Is it just paid by gift cards?

You can but a lot of people (including myself) just use Australian issued debit cards. Had to add them via live chat though.

    @cocsyrup
If you get caught the Netflix police will kidnap you and you will be taken directly to Türkiye , chucked in a prison, and suffer a similar fate to the dude in Midnight Express, but this time no possible escape. But it's definitely well worth the risk to (1) save the massive amounts of cash and (2) the opportunity to watch the different content and (3) garner the bragging rights.

PS: It's BLOODY Türkiye, now, so there will be zero parole if you get snaffled

If you bothered to read any of the Netflix Turkey deals all the information is there
These questions get asked all the time.
The same questions always get asked.

“Do I need a vpn to watch” is a very common one so please don’t tell us you read them.

I didn’t see any questions or answers about risk. There didn’t seem to be any agreement about VPN all the time or just some of the time. Some credit card payments seem to work, some don’t.

But honestly, why leave a snarky reply rather than just ignoring the questions if they’re so annoying?

Netflix is cracking down on Turkish customers using their new Turkish accounts overseas. First 28-30 days you will get a message saying you are region locked so you will need to use your VPN to watch the limited catalog. Also it doesn’t work with some Australian credit cards. That said if you can jump through the hoops ~$4 per month is a very good deal. DM me if you have any other questions.

    • What's the point then if you have to use a VPN after a month?

    • I just tried updating my 28 Degrees credit card on file and I cannot get it work.

Edit: I tried again via chat and used my Up Debit Mastercard. Worked fine!

Hi, I have been using Netflix Turkey for a few years now. Share with 3 other people. I needed a VPN to setup, but don't need anymore. We get the Australian library as we have an Australian IP when we log in. Sometimes I will use VPN to get a US IP address to get the US library.

We all buy 200 Turk lira gift cards as I cannot get any local credit card to work. Netflix gift cards are purchased through G2A. https://www.g2a.com/n/200tl I haven't had any issues with this seller. Works out to be about $8 a month, or $2 each. (200 TL gets approx 1.5 months)

Risk is that Netflix will crack down on account sharing or us not logging in from Turkey ever, apart from setup. However, all we are set to lose is about $13 each (200 TL)

    Hope this helps.

    • I initially did the whole Turkey VPN thing and also used the G2A for gift cards.

I can purchase the G2A gift cards still now, but do I need to use a VPN in order to "redeem" them? Or can I redeem them directly if I log onto Netflix.com without a VPN?

No need for vpn after setup. Just need to make sure the Netflix gift cards are for Turkey. Added gift cards about 2 weeks ago without vpn.

    • Thanks mate. Didn't see your reply before, but got it working!

  • Hi guys i bought GC from from g2a in the past no issues but recently there is a warning of country restriction for australia, what does this mean? any one have try it recently?
