MG4 New Car Buyers/Owners - Buying Experience?

To those who have placed an order or bought the new MG4 Electric. We're you able to negotiate on the price or on additional accessories? If so, what price/ accessories were you able to get?

I'm planning to order one soon and want to know what is possible.

Thank you!

New car to market. Back log of pre-orders. If it comes with floor mats and fully charged, consider it a win.

    • +6

fully charged is the new full tank of petrol.

      • -1

Car mats is the new fleet price

  • Negotiate for some extra air in the tyres.

    • Free upgrade to nitrogen.

Don’t imagine they’ll have a hard time selling these. Got good reviews, decent price EV, not. Toolsla so it’ll be hard to get much discount.

Maybe 1 year of firmware upgrades?
    You could do worse:
Buy a Volkswagen and the dealer is going to be your most visited place till firmware 9847 is finally sorting things out….

  • +1

    Yeahhhhhnah

They're not going to be struggling to move those.
The BYD alternative you may get some leeway with the price as it's inferior (on paper) however i wouldn't expect much else.

  • in VIC for +$8k I get extra 100km of range

+$2k I get 15 less range but some extra bling

    Going to be fun times

Did you get the essence 64?

      • -1

        Nope.

Just pointing out that price doesn't quite make sense.

  • so close to MG42

      from your friends at H&K

the MG4 EV will sell out… its not even fair for anyone else.. its just a superior design

its sold out at every other RHD market

to me these EV makers are just trying to make a better mouse trap and it seems just about everyone is screwing up big time

  • They don't even appear to be on sale yet..
Fwiw I'll just be paying the retail and expecting nothing at all with it

  • up to 3 months wait, no negotiations as it's a new model.
no details on battery warranty specifications.
    take it or leave it.

3 month wait! We just been there. Going to order in 2 months so when they do come it will be 2024 plated. And no discount at all

    • +2

you know there's some shit going on when a Chinese car has a 2 month wait

the car has to be like… ok at least

the chinese dont obviosuly rely on any western silicon and so this is just people wanting a sub $40k EV so they can get away from $2.50 petrol

      • +1

The idea is right as it will be better for the environment as well as not paying $120 per fill. Feels like the Korean car when they first introduced allover again

        "sub $40k EV"
$42411 in SA for non white ($700 for any colour other than white)
        .

  • Has anyone been able to get a decent price on the essence 64?

The drive away price for NSW with metallic paint $50,436.

I’ve been offered an Essence 64 with metallic paint and tint for $48,500

For a new model I didn’t think discounts were a thing so I was quite surprised at this figure.

I put a deposit down at the beginning of the year for a Corolla ZR Hybrid which is due to arrive around Christmas.
At the time of the deposit, the EV market wasn’t that big. The market is pretty competitive now so I thought id look around.

Going to have my S/O look at it today and hear her thoughts.

With the EV rebates, it does seem like an enticing offer.

    Thoughts?

    • Stay with the Corolla, far, far better resale, reliability etc…Years of happy & reliable motoring.Quite frankly you would have to be nuts to take that over the Corolla. And here comes the ‘down votes’! Obviously common sense does not prevail.Hide behind your down votes instead of having a robust debate.

    • Saw an article yesterday about them giving big discounts on Ioniq 6 to clear stock before the 24 modal arrives and the local BYD yard has about 30 cars in it. Seems the demand might have dropped for EVs. Interest rates might be starting to bite in new car sales.

      • US dealer inventory stock has around 120 days supply in Tesla’s,they just cannot move them, it seems pretty indicative of the EV scene.

        • Yes because Tesla has dealer… NOT

No dealer has 120 days supply of Tesla for obvious reasons.

          • @Bigboomboom: Do your research! I will rephrase :Stores.

            • @Hackney: Do your own research:
"Note that the figures don’t include Tesla or Rivian, since those companies’ direct-to-consumer approach to sales limits the ability to collect data."

              https://insideclimatenews.org/news/27072023/inside-clean-ene…

120 days supply apply to Legacy carmakers EV because we all know they can't catch up to Tesla.

              • @Bigboomboom: Source:Axios: EV are piling up on dealer lots.ICE vehicles have around 54 days of inventory,Toyota Hybrids a lot less.Nearly all EV’s in the US have nearly two to three months worth of stock. Another source:Yahoo Finance:Elon Musks swelling inventories of unsold Tesla cars.

                • @Hackney: And none of them say Tesla has 120 days supply. Do your own research.

                  • @Bigboomboom: I actually did read that a few weeks ago, still trying to find it,when I do,you will be the first to hear about it.I don’t post unless it is factual. But nevertheless he has big inventories of unsold vehicles.Another source:Tesla had over 9,600 vehicles which were unsold with no owners to go to, this was a report in May, January they had a backlog of just over 1,000 units. They are not much different @ the moment.Another source yet again.Electrek: Tesla’s inventory reaches a new high, pointing to price cuts not working.

                    • @Hackney: Sure, inventory over 9,600 vehicles in a market that they sold over 310k vehicles in first 6 months. That works out to 120 days inventory! NOT! About 6 days of supply.

Keep looking, cause you won't be finding any 120 days inventory.

                      • @Bigboomboom: Your twisting it suit your own narrative.Think this conversation needs to end.

                        • @Hackney: No, you are the one twisting it in the first place. Show me a single piece of news say Tesla has 120 days supply in the US at their "stores". It was the legacy carmaker, not Tesla.

  • The new BYD seal is pretty much the same price as the MG4 Essence 64 (both have similar range) and one gets with the Seal a glass sunroof, massive infotainment screen that rotates, wifi carplay and other better and missing features the MG4 doesnt't have so dont understand why MG4 has the same price,. should be at least $5k cheaper or more, well time will tell with sales and pricing next few months, but i do have to admit i favour the MG4 due to being a small hatchback over the Seal sedan but the Seal is sexy looking also, well ill be waiting one year or more to buy a used MG4 or the BYD Seal hope used prices will come down to closer to $40k ish but all depends if anyone would be upgrading their EV after a years use, well what we need in the EV market is more similar spec EV's from other manufacturers around the same prices or more competitive pricing to stir up the EV market pricing lowering prices 😉

Edit: thanks OP too and wondering did you end up buying a MG4 EV, if so any opinions
