Weird Pressure Cooker Knocking Noise

Hey all,

i have a pressure cooker that i usually use to cook rice.

the machine itself is 3-4 years old but just been used regularly (2x a week) in the past 12 months - since our rice cooker decided to stop working.

we barely use the machine prior to the 12 months mark (maybe 3-5x max)

in the past few weeks, the machine starts making odd knocking noise. has anyone got this issue ?

  • Is there a screw thats come loose or missing that has changed the noise?

    • not that i am aware of, have cheked the whole lid mechanism and i dont see anything unusual.

tried to push the lid when the noise were present but it does nothing…

      knock, knock
      whose there
      Con
      Con who
      Con Rod
      .

  • I assume the cooker has a Removal Inner Container (the container that you can take out to wash your rice), make sure the part touching the bottom heat element is DRY (wipe it dry using a towel).

    • yes, i always wipe it dry prior cooking anything.

to my surprise though, the outter bottom is all scratched up!!

i have just bought a replacement inner container let's see if it makes any different

i remember when i just got my Philips AIO, excitedly went to cook rice in it and dumped the rinsed rice straight into the cooker with no inner pot -.- literally right out of the box lol. I tipped it out and shook the rice out and i think i removed the bottom as well, dried it out a few days but ever since then it would make some popping noises here and there. anyway, maybe some rice got into the bottom of your pot.

    • Nooo. That would've been so frustrating! At least you didn't turn it on and cook it 🤣

      • does it sounds similar with mine?

Cockroach trying to escape? I'd send your query with vid to product support .

    1. Check the sealing on the lid, make sure it is there and also seating properly at the right location. Often forgotten after cleaning.
    2. Check the float valve, ensure that the rubber/silicone ring is still there. Often forgotten after cleaning.
    3. Check all the pressure control valve, ensure that nothing is loose or missing. Often forgotten after cleaning.
    4. Not sure if this model has a center thermostat. If yes, while power off, check at the center of the heating plate, there is the thermostat, press if the spring is still in good condition and not loose. The sound from your video definitely sounded like the thermostat is clicking and not engaging.
    • hmm… just checked all 1-4 and all appears to be still in place/in order…

yes my model has the middle thermostat and the spring seems to be working ok.
