Dual Monitor Display Problem

Hi I currently am using a dell latitude 7300 work laptop. I have been using a caldigit dock to display dual monitors through the thunderbolt port. Recently the monitors have been flicking when plugging it in( doesn’t flicker for my other laptop) so I’m coming to a conclusion that it’s the thunderbolt port that’s broken.
The only other ports available are usb and one hdmi. How can I run a dual monitor setup using the other available ports? Extended screen, not mirror please
Tia

have you tried a different cable?

    • Have tried new cable / dock. Same issue so seems to be the port. Work IT is outsourced and based in another state. Was hoping I can use another port as a quick fix before going down the path getting new laptop

Definitely try a new cable first otherwise log a support ticket to have your port checked by whoever handles your work IT.

We have some new monitors at work and the cable in the box is so rigid it actually puts a fair amount of tension on the laptop (when not layed out correctly).

      • Well you only really have HDMI to use unless you buy a USB-A displaylink adapter.

If your IT is outsourced they might send a tech directly to your house to repair if it is possible (port could be soldered to mainboard).

Tried running anything else through the thunderbolt port to see if there are issues? Have you checked the Windows settings to make sure there's not some kind of power saving mode turned on? Tried it at different resolutions to see if the problem remains? Was there any kind of update prior to the issue starting?

I'd try a new cable first, usually the problem (particularly with the wildly different quality of cables out there) and the cheapest to fix. The port itself constantly connecting/disconnecting seems unlikely but possible as it's a few years old and if it's a well used port.
