AliExpress Insanely Fast Delivery, The New Normal?

I just placed an order from AliExpress on Saturday, and guess what? They arrived at my doorstep bright and early on Thursday morning! That's almost as quick as what you'd expect from a local eBay seller. I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised! Is this their new standard delivery speed as they go head-to-head with Temu?

Here's the tracking history

I'm curious to know, what's the fastest overseas delivery time you've experienced recently?

Maybe they are trying to compete with Temu

The Chinese have obviously quietly made huge improvements during the COVID lockdown

      • +10

Meanwhile feels like businesses in Australia are still using COVID as an excuse to raise prices and provide crappier service

I've had stuff delivered by Aliexpress free postage faster than stuff coming from Melbourne to Sydney

  • Watch: took like 2 weeks, impressive

Oclean brushes: nearly 4 months - f**** the official oclean Ali store.

  • I guess they're using the empty passenger planes for packages?

    • +3

qantas planes maybe? after their reputation going down, but the ceo bonus is going up

  • depending on which shop, and value.
if you share you item and shop name then its better
and yes thanks to temu, ali also have this 2 weeks guarantee thingie

  • Still awaiting my order placed on 24th Aug no updates nothing

  • I've noticed that in WA too. Getting deliveries in under 2 weeks now, which is better compared to 4-6 weeks before.

I suspect some have local warehouses and get here quicker than others.

    • +2

Could be, but mine says shipped from China warehouse. Delivered by auspost

      • OK nice. :)

      • Yes you see some items have guaranteed 15 day shipping. Those will usually have an Auspost tracking number and arrive within a week.

TBH Amazon better pull their finger out for WA ppl, so many orders coming from eastern states warehouses these days and not getting here any quicker than ordering from China. So much for Prime expedited…

    • Yes there is "something" unusual (for me at least).

      Got a parcel/satchel from Aliexpress.
The address label had 4 (four) labels stuck on top of each other.
Removing/peeling the labels show my address and details but under 4 different couriers and tracking numbers.

      Inexplicable (… to me …)

My last 3 recent orders from AliExpress have taken a couple of days to arrive, one of my orders was placed on a Friday night and arrived the following Wednesday! The other 2 items arrived in 4-5 days which was still very quick because it normally takes 2-3 weeks.

I had a recent express post item though Australia post which took 4 days to arrive…

  • +3

Yep. Since they started charging for postage, shipping as been quicker. But watch out. Come november, things will slow back down as sales enter the peak christmas/newyear period. These things have a cyclical quality to them

  • Same here in WA. Faster than Amazon and ebay.

  • With "Ali Express Standard Shipping" this has been the case for me since someway through covid. Shipping was awful at the beginning, then they started bringing the packages here in bulk and locally distributing with aus post I think. Pretty sweet

  • My current purchase still hasn't arrived in Australia after 3.5 weeks.

Last two purchases took about a week each…

    Go figure…

  • my last 2 aliexpress orders were delivered relatively "fast"

    (1) ordered 25 Aug 2023 Received 7 Sept 2023
    (2) ordered 23 Aug 2023 Received 5 Sept 2023

  • I once ordered an item from Ebay UK on a Thursday and it arrived the coming Monday. This was pre-covid and when I came home that day to see the parcel at the door, I was initially 'what did I order a few weeks ago for it to be here now?'. Then it progressed to 'NO WAY is that the Ebay UK item'.

AliExpress are like Amazon in that they now have a global warehouses that sellers can have their stock in. You'll find most Choice Products are shipped from the AliExpress warehouse.

For "AliExpress Standard Shipping" the seller ships the order to an AliExpress distribution warehouse where it's repackaged and forward onto you with another shipping company. "AI" is used to determine the best courier and often you'll get these fast.

A lot of the stores I'm posting like Factory Direct Collected are run by Alibaba themselves so you get low prices and fast shipping.

    • I believe this might be the situation, but receiving a package from an international warehouse in just four days is still quite remarkable. Waiting for their move to establish local warehouses and compete with Amazon

Alibaba buying out the global shipping tracker Cainiao has certainly played a big role.

I had a heap of batteries from August 27th arrive today and they had an ETA of early October. Batteries normally take a couple of months.

  • Fast/free choice shipping, just had one that arrived 7 days after order. My Amazon prime order from over East took 8 days lol…

  • I bought something on Ali first time ever and surprised it beat their expected delivery by 10 days. I've never gotten China delivered stuff so quick. Usually almost 1 month wait is the norm.

    • Yeah, a few years ago, it was totally normal to order stuff and then totally forget about it until it randomly showed up in your mailbox months later

  • Just came to balance the ledger slightly. Ordered an AE item Aug 27.
The only tracking entry at Auspost up to now:

    Cleared and awaiting international departure

SINGAPORE (SG), SINGAPORE • Thu 31 Aug, 5.46pm

So over a week sitting there.

    • Eh, arrived yesterday so just over 2 weeks. Better than pre-Covid times!

I had the same surprise today as well. ordered 2 items from alliexpress (2 accounts as the coupon only worked once…). One went via a rocketship so understandbly faster (Earth customs import LOL) the other went to customs export. NFI why! Was wondering what auspost was delivering today - it didnt even enter into my mind that it was something from alli bought last week.

Looks like I got one taking an interstellar route too "[Earth,香港国际机场] Departed from departure country/regionCarrier note: 香港国际机场,Flight departed"

Probably still beat another one coming from eastern states via Aramex though.

  • AE has been trying out plenty of shipping methods over the years. Sometimes it can be terribly slow more than 4 weeks but it seems they seems to improve a lot after covid.
