A Business Pty Ltd Low Transactions Account with Debit Card, Purely Online Application and ID Check Process?

I have a small/shell'ish Pty Ltd with minimal transactions that needs a debit card for online purchases/expenses. Wanting to open a bank a/c but they all seem to require branch visit for 100 pt ID check, urgghhhh. Any that have a purely online application and ID check process? Even some that say online, then tell you to visit branch after putting in ABN and saying not an existing customer. My existing banks don't do business accounts.

westpac business worked purely online. Even had a promo (targeted) for $100 cash back plus a few other things.

if you are not an existing customer with westpac, you'd still need to come into branch to be ID'ed.

    • "If you’re a sole trader or already a Westpac business customer, apply online. If that’s not you, apply at any branch."

  • The least infuriating to deal with was a CommSec CDIA when I recently applied.

and that is a problem how?

Wait time at bank branches is atrocious at the moment

    • Time is money! Getting to branch + waiting time + time to process + time to get back = ~3hrs.

        LOL @ 3 hours….. I'll give you an hour, but not 3.

At the end of the day, it is what it is. You only have to do it once.

You won't get an account open without some form of ID check.

        • Easy to open personal a/c's with online ID check. Should be same for business, since only need personal owner/directors ID check

@auMouth: It's always a 'should' when you have a bias

        • last time i went into BW to open a business account without an appointment, took me 1 whole day, came in at 9:30am. The next time 1 year later, made an appointment with CBA, still lost half a day. If you had things done in 1hr, good for you.

          • @tio: What the hell is your bank doing if it takes them 1/2 to a full day to verify your ID/Open an account?

100 points of ID to be verified isn't rocket science.

            • @JimmyF: Mate, you're welcome to try and see for yourself.

I have opened many accounts in person including a business account. Never taken an entire day like you claimed.

You didn't answer what they are doing for 4-8 hours. You just sit there while they look at the 100 points of ID for hours on end?

Regardless, it is what it is. If the OP wants a account, they are going to have to complete the 100 points of ID. Either do it online and head into a branch to verify the ID or don't open an account. No bank if going to give you an account without this check.

  • ING is online only and offers business accounts so you can try them. Worst case they will ask you to do ID check at Auspost. I know Amex accepts ID docs via emails, but they don't offer transaction accounts.

    • Online savings only, no card transaction a/c

  • Applied for an NAB Business Everyday Account earlier this year online, and afterwards they offered me to send certified documents online. I did opt for branch visit though just to cut down all the delays with emails back and forth.

I think Macquarie Business account also accept certified documents on their application interface. I tried two years ago but didn't go through in the end…

The main issue is that you still need to get recent certified copy of documents. So there's still a need to roll off the bed and get someone to certify those.
