TP-Link 300mbs WirelessN 4G LTE Router

Model tplink tlmr6400

Does anyone understand the Sim compatability for this 4g router.
I bought 2 few years ago but had issues on standard Sim with Data

Then I got the Nokia 5G modem from Optus, that is another location and Hate Hate Hate Optus to get another..

I now want to setup the TP Link again
Not working with Optus Sim and Woolworths (Telstra) from my phones.
I assume call, txt and data sims must be blocked from these units???

I haven't got a data only Sim to test.

Can anyone push me in the right direction to get data to this unit to share across a LAN network.
(hotspot no good as I have to set up printers on Lan.)

Thanks for read and feedback

Setup video and download of manual.

  • Did you buy it new from a regular store? If you didn't get it from a telco like vodafone or optus, you should be able to put whatever sim you like in it.

Firstly you need the sim making proper contact. Sometimes incorrect orientation or grime on the pads prevent it from being access. Next to check is that the APN settings are right. If you haven't used it for a while, maybe do a factory reset and see if that fixes things. If it doesn't you might have to add the correct APN details manually

  • The optus sim comes with their 5G router will only work in the Nokia modem as it is registered when it first connected. The sim will not work in any other modem. Any other data sim shall work in the TP-Link 4G modem.

Also, from my own experience, Telstra sim for phone will not work in modem. Telstra possibly block the imei for all non-phone devices for voice sim. Telstra data sim will work though.
