Surgically- Assisted Maxillary Expansion Cost

Hi Guys,

I have been advised by my orthodontist that I would require jaw surgery, specifically, Surgically- Assisted Maxillary Expansion in order to correct my crossbite.

Has anyone had the surgery done in Melbourne?

How much did it cost and was it painful?

Cheers

How much did it cost and was it painful?

I can guarantee the cost will be both hard to swallow and painful.

  • Lots of additional factors/costs…

Double jaw surgery is anywhere from $7k - $9k+ operated privately so expect around that figure.

The thing is you will need to account for the private hospital costs:
    - bed fees $500-1.5k a night
    - operating theatre $2k +
    - prosthesis (plates and screws etc) $2k+

    • anaesthesia $2k~

    Misc consults

Also whether you need braces/ortho treatment. If so, you best get health insurance for the surgical procedure^ as you may need the 12 months with braces and the waiting period.

sounds expensive just from the title

Sounds expansive just from the title.

  • Did they mention getting braces? Braces help a bit without the need of surgery. If won't fully fix it, but it helps to reduce the gap of the crossbite.
