  • Anyone tried these before (out of interest, I've already bought a bundle)? Looks like a good price and figure at worst I can cook with them :)

Yep i did last deal. The eucalyptus gin and the rum are good.

Hated it. To me, the Eucalyptus Gin tasted like Pine'oclean, and the Rum was rough. I liked the Marmalade Vodka actually

However, its probably worth buying it at that price, especially if you're going to mix it

If you bought it thinking it tastes like Strawberry you're in for a bad time, it's Eucalyptus, I didn't mind it. Just ordered the Rum so no idea how that goes.

      • +3

Just curious, how you know the taste of pine'oclean

    • +2

I found the Brown Snake Rhum to be awful, wouldn't buy again.

      • +2

Yeah not great from me either. Had a first sip of all the bottles I bought and thought it was pretty nice, but after a few proper glasses I realised it wasn't at all what I thought it was… Would almost rather Bundy.

Got the Ironbark Lemon Botanical Vodka and Strawberry Eucalyptus Gin last time. Both are goddamn awful. Tastes/smells like those really overpowering toilet freshener sprays. The Queensland Dry Gin is passable, tastes about the same as any other cheap gin (gordon's etc). Would definitely not buy any of their stuff again

I think it's a matter of taste - some people seem to love the eucalyptus flavour and some hate it.

The vodkas and gins were pretty great for the price (especially the Strawberry Eucalyptus gin, a couple of my bartender mates really liked it). The Ironbark Lemon vodka masks the alcohol burn very well, and the eucalyptus in the gins does the same - seems like some people associate the eucalyptus taste with cleaning products but if you aren't affected by that, they're really nice. Can't say the same about the rhum though sadly, it's pretty average - struggled to get through a few glasses of it without diluting it pretty heavily. Might actually contain genuine Brown Snake water.

Note, I did drink the gin with tonic/ginger ale, not sure how it would go neat - however the Ironbark vodka went down very nicely neat.

    • Queensland Dry Gin (glass or plastic bottle)

How? I don't see any option for choosing the bottle type.

    • I think the "refill"s are plastic

      • You can't choose the "refill" as the one you're buying. That's automatically included as the "2 free bottles"

        • No worries, I've edited the post

    • BDC vs refill

  • OOS already

  • There really wasn’t much left over after the alcohol excise tax (about $20 a bottle in this case)

"IF THIS OFFER HAS SOLD OUT, PLEASE TRY THE 4 BOTTLE BUNDLE HERE"

    Classic bait & switch

    • -1

Not a bait and switch, that 4 bottle deal has been running since late August

  • I can only ever select 1 or 3 items but never the 2 items needed to continue.

    • Because the free bottles are out of stock

  • +1

Rubbish gin owned and run by an arrogant prick.

    • Explain?

    • Ah yes, the Porn Baron haha

      Current ASIC status: In Liquidation.

Kind of funny for a Distillery.

This company have been clearing out more and more bottles as time goes on, with slightly different kinds of deals (50% off all bottles for any order size, 50% off if you buy 4 bottles, buy 1 get 2 vodka refills free, etc) slowly bringing the price down over time. Every time they say they've run out of stock, there seems to be a new deal in a week or two… so if you missed this, just hang around until their next offer appears before long.

Lots of rookie mistakes with their ordering and emails too - most recent promo email was sent out with a misspelled and broken link to this deal, and last time I placed an order with them I received a different lot of bottles to what I selected. No response to my emails, and they didn't have a phone number listed - so after googling their address I discovered the company was shipping them out from the Red Queen Gin Bar in Brissy. Went down in person to ask about the order and was able to swap them out - discovered when chatting about the order that Queensland Distillery and Red Queen appear to be the same company, and that they bought out all the stock from Brisbane Distillery Company when they folded. I'd be a little wary if you're ordering from interstate and can't show up in person.

  • Anyone got movement in tracking? Mine has said scheduled for pick up since Thursday last week.

    • It's finally been picked up

      • I haven't see anything since the confirmation that the order was received, about to do a charge back

      • Yeah mine was picked up yesterday

      • It arrived. Very smart packaging for the rhum.

  • Just be really careful buying from here. They send their packages via Sendle, who have an automatic Authority to Leave and you cannot change this. Their drivers leave in a 'safe place' and for me living in an apartment block, that was in the lobby (very safe, right?). Surprise suprise, I never received my order. Won't be making that mistake again.

  • Mine was just delivered, guess we'll see if they left it somewhere sensible or just out on the street (my last order was fine)

  • Found mine "hidden" under the doormat.

Haven't tried the Gin but the Rum is pretty decent straight up
