Is Samsung washing machine any good?

My top loading washing machine just died and I am thinking of buying a front loader. My preference is between a Electrolux and Samsung. I know there are good reviews on Electrolux but wonder if Samsung is also good or not. If anyone has any experience on Samsung Front Loader, please share your thought with me. Tia.

  • No experience on SS washing machines but have had plenty with other SS appliances. Every one of them either failed after little use or performed so poorly they went into the bin.
I have one of their airconditioners at another property and it has been a piece of junk since day one.
Do some research on their warranty service. The times I had to call it was pathetic. There was many reports of the same experience on the net. Not sure if they have cleaned up their act in recent times but I for one am not the slightest bit interested in trying anything with their brand on it again.

Have you looked at any of the appliance users feedback websites? Always worth a look.

  • I had a Samsung top loader and it was great! Only sold it as had to move :( the problem with your question tho is that you need to be more specific as they can change between models. A better way to ask is a Samsung xxxx model any good. A lot of the time the base models suck in any brand. The product review site is your best bet.

  • Have had Samsung front loader for 4 years + and it still does its job perfectly. :)

  • I have Samsung front loader and the main function electonic button has gone faulty and I have to fight it every day. Probably wouldn't buy Samsung again but honestly getting a bad appliance is like luck of the draw. They aren't released long enough for people to accurately review the longevity before the new model is out. Personally, I'd go with the Electrolux but probably for brand name alone.

  • I used to have a small Samsung top-loader which was dreadful - it tangled and knotted the washing yet often failed to properly dissove the laundry detergent powder! Needless to say, the laundry often came out not much cleaner than when it went in. I replaced it with a big, cheap LG front-loader which seems OK, although it sometimes sounds as though it's going to come apart, when slowing down from high speed spinning.

My ex has a large Samsung front-loader and is very happy with it. I've noticed it is remarkably quiet in operation, compared to my LG.

  • I may be in need of a washing machine soon. So was looking around. Noticed the Siemens comes with a 5 year manufacturers warranty, which has me interested. They aren't at the budget end of the range though.

  • Ive got a sammy front loader currently, seems to do the job fine, its pretty good on water which is nice, no complaints here.

  • Have been using Samsung front loader 8kg machine, great washing machine, water and electricity saving. Make sure you buy one of the latest models with ceramic heaters.

Thanks everyone for your comment. I ended up buying a Samsung front loader from appliancesonline. So far so good. Saves a lot of water compared to my previous top loader.

  • FYI, I noticed that AppliancesOnline are having a sale. Some front loaders appear to be discounted slightly, so I'm tossing up between the Samsung 1752 and the Bosch WAS24460AU front loaders(each are 7.5kg, 1200 rpm spin).

If anyone else can report on the reliability of the Samsung front loaders, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

  • you might want to avoid the 7kg Samsung SW70SP top-loading machine. Choice magazine bagged it for its water consumption.

  • The Choice dodgy awards, and yes, I remember the news feature.

I was referring to the Samsung 1752 front loader. Our 10 yr old Whirlpool front loader stopped and I don't trust it would last longer even if the product is fixable.

No top loaders for us, thanks.

    • Thanks. I don't have the top loading machine. Mine is a front loader.
