Looking for Mattress Protector

So I've just splurged and got a really good mattress and looking for a protector, I don't want something that will change the feeling or the mattress at all.
Do I just buy the thinnest one I can find at kmart/target if that were the case or will the more expensive ones be better. To me the more expensive ones look thicker and plusher which would alter the feeling more or am i missing something.

Thanks

Protect-A-Bed - These guys are the top of the food chain when it comes to mattress protection. They rebrand them self in different type and price point toappear in different market segments.

  • Get a cheap one to actually protect the mattress (if it's on slats, i get 2 and encase it). Then a mattress topper from Tontine is fine.

After it dies, it then becomes the next old layer of protection and on and on it goes. I think I have maybe 3 on the bed? Needless to say, mattress looks like new.

If i had the money, i would get https://hotelhome.com.au/store/mattress-toppers/retail-buy-o…

These ^ are absolutely heavenly 😍

  • Get a minijumbuk. They can be found on special at times. I highly recommend it - very cool.

This is ozbargain - leave the mattress in it's plastic wrapping.

  • Did you get a new gf? I've got the waterproof Tempur protector - can't feel a thing (no pun intended!). haha

Are you looking for a 'topper' or a 'protector'?

  • It depends if you want a waterproof one or are happy with using one that has some type of fibre filling in it to absorb stains.

    Waterproof - Guardsman or Protect-A-Bed
Personally I prefer Guardsman protectors over all others. They have a decent selection of different types (materials) while having a proper membrane to stop any liquid going through. I would highly recommend one of the versions with a backing material on the underside of the protective membrane, otherwise you will sometimes hear the noise of the membrane against the mattress - imagine a shuffling sound every time you move or get in/out of the bed. Guardsman protectors also have a good replacement protector program.

    Non Waterproof - Bambi
If you don't want a protector with a water proof membrane, go for something like a Bambi Tencel protector. These types of protectors rely on a thick enough fibre filling to absorb any fluids before allowing them to go through to the mattress underneath. Some people don't like the waterproof membrane because they feel it can restrict heat dissipation. Generally these can be a bit thicker than something like a Guardsman or Protect-A-Bed protector so you could possibly notice it more underneath your sheets.

Whatever one you buy, grab two so that you can always keep one on when you are washing/drying the other.

  • Go to Kmart and grab one. If you do not like it go back and get a refund and try a different type. Waterproof can be hot. 100% cotton is not waterproof. 100% cotton filling can be good or bad depending on the what the outer layer is made of.

    I prefer 100% cotton.
