Ulanzi U-Mic Wireless Lavalier Microphone System US$71.96 (A$111.84) + US$5.99 Delivery ($0 with US$79 Order) @ Ulanzi

ULANZI10

I've been looking into a cheaper alternative from the DJI Mic and Rode Wireless Go and came across this recently launched product. There aren't many extensive reviews but there was a short preview from their launch video at 52 seconds.

It's a fraction of the cost in comparison to the other two popular products so it's worth a shot. Will provide an update/quick review once mine arrives.

You can use the coupon code ULANZI10, which is the generic code when you sign up to their newsletter, to stack on top of their 20% off promo. Shipping was $6 USD for me. Total was $121.60 with Mastercard conversion rates.

Add udiscord in your order page's comments during your purchase, and we'll send you a Camera Cooling Fan as a complimentary gift when we ship your order.

Cheers OP, going to give it a shot.

  • Would this plug into a DJI RC 2 remote for DJI Mini 3 Pro as the DJI mic does?

Mildly interested in drone video audio but clicking through it didn't seem I could plug it in direct

If anyone knows how it differs from the DJI, would really appreciate any info you can share. A search doesn't confuse me any less.

The USB-C port on the mic appears to only do charging and data transfer. So I'd guess you'd need a USB-C cable into the remote to a 3.5mm jack into the mic.

The USB-C port on the mic appears to only do charging and data transfer.

It looks like it supports USB audio as well, since the description shows it can be connected to a phone over USB-C. The RC2 supports external digital mics over USB-C so it "should" work. Should…. :)

        • That's good then, I watched the video and he said that at the 3:28 mark. Hopefully he just forgot to mention it.

  • Can this be connected to a PA mixer that's connected to speakers?
Talking about live audience where the mic is connected to the speaker (not recording or streaming).

I have a room used for small classes. I need a wireless mic for the sound to go through the PA mixer and to the speakers (it's not for recording).

If the mixer has a 3.5mm input, yes. If it doesn't, you can make or buy a 3.5mm to TS or XLR cable. You can also just use a 3.5mm to 6.35mm headphone adaptor.

Being a lav-style mic you might encounter feedback though. Connecting a headworn mic to it will help reduce the chances of feedback. There will also be a tiny bit of latency due to the digital transmission.

      • ThankYou. Appreciate your input :)

  • I paid almost half this for a charging case for the Wireless Go 2.. 😅

  • I do have some Ulanzi products, and they're actually quite good.

  • Not too long ago I bought, Ulanzi J12, but just for meetings whilst out and about. The sound quality ain't that bad at all.

    This one looks nicer though.

  • Nice, but when clipped to a shirt like in this Ulanzi promo video, it looks very chunky and awkward… ?

I suppose this also applies to the DJI mic… looks too distracting and bulky when attached to clothing like a t-shirt. Might be better with jacket where it blends in more.

    • Most of them look chunky when used on their own. If you thought that was chunky, I've seen some people use the Rode Wireless mic block on its own clipped on their shirts. Usually if you want to make it more subtle you'd use them as a means to make a better lavalier mic wireless. I eventually intend to connect the Rode Lavalier Go into the aux port to make it more clean.

      • Sounds like a good plan, to connect the Rode Lavalier Go to the Ulanzi. I didn't realise the transmitter on the Ulanzi has a 3.5mm mic input. Would be interesting to compare mic quality between the Go and Ulanzi.

  • Shipping is free if you get the bag with it by the way.
