Great Deal or Price Error? Acer Triton 17x 64GB, 2x 2TB, RTX 4090 $2,897

Would you buy an Acer Triton 17x with 64GB RAM, 2x2TB RAID Storage and RTX 4090 for $8,999? No? What about $2,897 instead?

I paid almost 4K once I specced out my gaming laptop last year (which has RTX 3070 TI Mobile graphics)

    I decided to take the plunge and I'll report back if they don't adhere to that price.

        Nothing yet and payment seemed to have gone through just fine. All I've gotten so far is a confirmation of purchase email.

        • My payment went through fine and i got confirmation email. I ordered later than you though and received a bit over an hour ago now saying its out of stock. Maybe they are honouring your order. Good Luck!

          • @dowhatuwant2: Called up this morning as I haven't received a shipping/tracking email.

            Apparently its on its way and could be here by the end of the week.
            Looks like I'm lucky, but I won't be celebrating until it's arrived haha

                @Bignudge: Exactly the same as my experience.

                • @Raptoride: I called up again… same response from Acer saying that it also shows "No Display Available" on the tracking site for the phone operator and that they'll escalate it to the sales team.

                  I then called up AirRoads and they couldn't find the tracking number either. They then searched my address instead, and said they found no bookings made yet for delivery to my address.

                  My best guess is that the tracking number is a fake. Mine ends in a 77, what about you?

                    At least my tracking number is different haha

                    It'll be interesting to see what sales comes back with but at the end of the day theyve accepted the order and I won't be giving up until the laptop is at my house haha

                        I was supposed to get a refund, but haven't yet, which leads me to think Acer support are pretty useless.

                          @Aureus: Nothing yet. I called up yesterday again and got the same information… and that they'll escalate it with the sales team. Then…. nothing happens.

                          I emailed them twice with no response either. Idk what's happening. I will keep calling them everyday until this fricken laptop is at my door.

                      @Raptoride: Called up again this afternoon. Same shit about how the tracking number also says "No display available" to them as well. They keep trying to blame AirRoad's tracking service not working. But I called AirRoads myself confirming the tracking number is not valid, and nor has there been any bookings for deliveries to my address.

                      Again they said they'll escalate it to the sales team with the addition of his manager also doing the same.

                      The phone operator claimed that the sales team emailed me already? But of course I'd know if I actually received anything. I asked for a direct email to the sales team and got [email protected]. After the phone call, to my suprise…that's the godamn same one that I've been emailing for the past 7 days without a response. Apparantly the phone operator doesn't have direct contact with the sales team.

                      I did get the phone operator to 100% confirm with me that I will be getting my order.

                      It's becomming my daily routine to call up Acer everyday when I come home from work. I know their script word for word now.

                        I was about to call again and then i saw your reply. I'll be calling up on Monday and begin to hound them each day like you are.

                            @dowhatuwant2: Both of us were calling pretty much each day to get an update, as things weren't making much sense.

                            Even though we both got tracking numbers (which were invalid), and when I called they said the laptop was shipped, they eventually gave in and said that the product was out of stock and do you want a refund.

                            I said nope, I'd like the laptop. So now I'm waiting until its back in stock and making sure it gets shipped properly.

                            Side note: Acer support is terrible! Such a bad experience.

                              @Raptoride: Ahh so same boat as me then, i got the out of stock email on the first day and said i didn't want a refund i want the laptop. Agree their support is horrible as i've been ringing every few days asking for an update and they have no idea. Apparently the people you call just have a list with order numbers that have shipped and if you aren't on it all they can do is email sales who never respond.

    Do you think this acer is better than a legion pro 7i with a 4090? ignoring the fact that legion is only 16", 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB SSD. I'm talking Build quality, thermals etc.

    I just got one for $4490, but now I see this …

          Raptoride called them and they told him his is on the way, he was probably the first to order though and never got an email saying they were out of stock. What time did you order go through (and timezone). I'm curious if your order was before or after mine.

    Don't know if below review site is reliable, but its saying the Triton 4090 runs at 140W instead of 170-175W like other mobile RTX4090

    its RTX 4090 (175W) doesn’t really run at 175W – more like 140W. And second – it performs more like an RTX 4080 (175W) – the one we saw in the Lenovo Legion Pro 7 (16″, 2023)

    Says keyboard gets hot at 51C, the Omen 17 4080 is 41C

    You might not care if you bagged the deal though :)
    Good luck, hope it gets honoured. For this much discount, can't complain too much.

          I ordered it pretty late, it's possible they will send to the first few orders. More likely they are just saying out of stock rather than admitting the price error.

          • @dowhatuwant2: Alrighty, I called up yesterday and was told to wait for it to ship out.

            I just called up again 5 minutes ago and was given a tracking number. Both me and the phone operator checked the tracking number but there were no results to display. She told me to keep waiting and the item will eventually show up (when the box is scanned and posted?).

            The order still shows "processing" in my account.

      • It was back in stock on their website among the list of others. Checking it now I can see its listing has been removed altogether. What are they doing?
