Switch Electricity Provider & Stay 75 Days: $108 Cashback @ Econnex via ShopBack Energy / $200 First Bill Credit @ Simply Energy

1515

Shopback has increased the cashback rate for electricity signups to $108 for today. According to their rules

Users must also remain with the brand for a minimum term period of 75 days to be eligible for cashback.

Separately, Simply Energy is offering $200 credit on your first bill.

You will receive a welcome credit of $200 on your first electricity bill for this offer. This credit includes GST and is not redeemable for
cash.

Together, that's $300 for swapping electricity for 3 months.

Nows a good time of year to do it too, as weather is mild and there's not too much heating/cooling going on. My rates for United Energy area is $1.08 per day + 31c per kw, which isn't great but not crazy either. If I wasn't in the process of testing out Amber I would probably take this up.

If you've already been through Optus and Medicare and still have some private data worth selling, this mob will get the job done for you…

    • They may rebrand to simply your data

    • +2

Yeap. Stay clear of this any promo via Econnex if you value your ID. Read their T&Cs carefully and how they use your data including overseas. If you are happy with this, then all is well. Just a heads up…….
Shame Shopback have jumped onboard and promoting this business.

Seems like getting a cashback from team ecconex is like winning the lottery… so many negs on every deal posted

    • Same here but Tangerine and $99

    Here we go again

Just a warning: Rep was refusing to post a link to official documents in the previous thread.

    Link https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14203101/redir

    Negging to warn people

Also check previous deal with numerous issues and negative experiences, someone also reporting unusual spam calls post signup.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/796466

Some ozbargainers have commented that cashback was declined by merchant after they made a cashback inquiry.

Also note they have data centres in India and phillipines where privacy laws are non existent.

PLEASE DONT FALL INTO THIS TRAP

Just a word of caution- out of 7, 5 cashbacks from SB via econnex have been rejected. None of the cashbacks were tracked in the first place, they were later added when I submitted missing cashback requests.

I had to send numerous redundant receipts, order confirmation emails etc. to get 2 cashbacks approved. They were too rejected initially.

    Rejected CBs
    Ovo energy
    Simply energy
    Tango energy
    Energy Australia
    Exetel

    Approved CBs
    Superloop
    Dodo

    As always, ymmv

Cashback never tracked and claim rejected even with click history/multiple confirmation emails as proof.

Wouldn't recommend eCONnex. My transaction tracked, after I did it I even called up them to make sure it was elegible and they said it was the case. Then Shopback/Econnex said it wasn't elegible despite being with the retailer for the minimum 90 day period. I'm sure they pay some people out but a deal is not a competition and should be honoured as such.

Rarely neg a deal but this one deserves it.

A large chunk of people in previous deals did not receive cashback. And rep was evasive in the other deal posted above. Buyer beware.

  • +3

Dont go anywhere near econnex. Should be banned

    • -4

To be fair, the main deal is the $200 from simply energy. That is separate from the econnex cashback offer, but if you're going to signup for it anyway may as well roll the dice.

Clearly a lot of people haven't got the cashback, but I did (last year). Even if the odds of getting it are 50% it's worth a shot to some people

SB-Econnex scam is getting reposted again and again.

I won't be scammed again by this mob.

Still waiting for Shopback to pay my last one. Econnex sent me an email saying they have told Shopback they should pay it. Shopback for the second time say they are chasing it up with Econnex. The first time it was rejected. Gave Shopback the email from Econnex saying it should be approved but still waiting. I transferred to Actewagl who just said sorry I had been misled by Econnex. It is really not worth the time and effort of having either Econnex or Shopback follow through.

    • that's dodgy sus af

I'll be in the category of cashback has worked for me several times with Econnex.

I initially thought they messed up as I was promised a $100 WISH gift card for signing up to Exetel and only received a $50 voucher via email. I logged a support ticket, about 10 min later received a phone call with someone kindly explaining the second $50 voucher was in the email and I just needed to scroll down 🤦‍♂️

Previously for switching electricity providers I've had no issue with the cashback tracking and being paid out, but YMMV.

For what it's worth the support rep was offshore, which may go some way explaining why your data (eg name, phone number) is accessed abroad.

  • This below is not $250 rebate to which applications ended on 31 August 2023. You do not have to do anything to get this rebate but just chase your provider and ask them to get it.

'Can one please post this new VIC Energy relief Fund for eligible households.
    https://www.energy.vic.gov.au/for-households/help-paying-you…
scroll down and click on 'energy relief bill fund-for victorian households'
it says a total $250 rebate in two auto instalments of $125 in August 2023 elect bill and February 2024 bill, respectively.'

They tend to lay on it as this rebate is not known widely.

STAY AWAY with SHOPBACK & ECONNEX!!

90% of times it wont track even you use shopback in-app browser & thats case closed. Forget cashback.

Look at this forum & members comments: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/797800

We have even submitted all the proof, videos and tracking information.. All you will hear is ECONNEX did not approve so SHOPBACK can’t give you cashback.

& if you are regular customer of SB, may be they will give you $15 for the inconvenience. Nothing more!!

  • Update: Shopback has manually approved the cashback of $109 for Superloop purchase, so I don't have further concerns!
