Someone posted a freakin $100 sceen protector of this type so I thought I would share my findings 😜
Gave one of these a stab, certainly the cheapest curved UV cured kit around at just over eight bucks each. Works great, typing on one right now. Trick to put on, just follow the instruction video exactly and don't press or glue will go everywhere, drop the glue in an oval shape not a circle dump in the middle, keep some q tips and a rag handy.

Also comes with two glass camera protectors.

Has anyone compared these more expensive ones to the ~$6 ones off AliExpress?

    • Yes, the more expensive one you get:
      - plastic template that you clip around your phone so the glass goes on perfectly
      - the glass honestly feels the same, but with better oleophobic coating (still wears off eventually though)
      - "whitestone LOCA glue blend" - this one is debatable, I can't tell the difference and both the whitestone one and the generic ones seem the same to me (they both smell awful)
      - different packaging for the glue, wipes etc
      - "bigger" UV lights

Having dropped a lot on a whitestone for my S8+, I learned my lesson and just bought heaps of cheap UV TGSP from aliexpress for my next phone (oneplus 7 pro), worked out a lot better buying the cheaper ones.

        • plastic template that you clip around your phone so the glass goes on perfectly

Oh, even for the UV ones? Does the LOCA not drip out the sides into the frame? Or do you just clean it up after curing?

I've always bought the AliExpress cheapies and have been reasonably satisfied so was wondering what I was missing out with the ones that cost 5-10x more.

        Thanks!

  • Does the fingerprint sensor still work well with the protector on?

    • I don't have a Pixel 7 pro, but my Oneplus 7 pro's optical finger print scanner had no issues after installing many cheap UV TGSP. If you were using the fingerprint scanner without a TGSP, you will need to re-register it again after installing the TGSP for best results.

Works fine for the pixel 7 pro I am using πŸ‘

  • The reviews arent flattering for this.

The complaints look like they come from people who have never used a LOCA screen protector before. Their complaints are valid as it is much harder to install than a normal screen protector, but it applies to all LOCA screen protectors not just this one.

100% this, if you've never installed TGSP with LOCA glue before, I would probably go with quantity over quality. Getting 5 of the cheap generic ones will let you make mistakes and get the perfect install so you don't feel bad if you inevitably screw up the first install.

  • It doesn't have a cut out for the front facing camera?

  • I had this on my pixel 7 Pro. It is pretty good. Doesn't mess with fingerprint sensor or face unlock. it is a bit of a mess to try and install it. The only issue I had was that the glass started falling apart after about 2 months and started cracking here and there. 20 bucks is pretty good price though

  • Does that work with a case that overlaps with the screen a bit? Like this https://www.amazon.com.au/SPIGEN-Tough-Armor-Designed-Google…

  • I just installed mine last night. I've used quite a few LOCA tempered glass screen protectors in the past, all cheapies from AliExpress.

This AsBellt (huh) one looks like it comes with the same glass and LOCA, but the extras make it worth the small additional cost for me.

The extras are the little foam stickers that you stick around the switches and earpiece, two positioning pieces for the top and bottom, and a little wedge to help drop the protector down. You can install it without any of those, they're just nice to have.

The UV curing light is much more substantial than the little 3-LED ones that come with the AliExpress kits.

For reference you can get a single protector for $5.32+gst with very slow delivery. This Amazon one is $9.97 each with really quick delivery.
